PS3 Identifies disc as DVD+VR ?

When I put a DVD+RW in the PS3 it will identified on the XMB as follows;

DVD+VR
DVD+RW

I thouhgt VR only had to do with -RW discs.

No, all stand alone +R/RW dvd recorders use DVD+VR mode on +RW disks.

Hmmm. I have the RDRGX300 and the manual for that recorder gives the impression that VR Mode is only applicable to DVD-RW discs.

Not a big deal, just curious.
