Default New 80GB SKU

So Sony anounced the new 80GB PS3 today in their conference. They said it was going to have the same functionality as the current 40GB system. Does that mean there will be no current production PS3 with PS2 compatability? How do they expect those 100 million PS2 owners to upgrade if they cannot play their games on a PS3. Thank God I bought a launch 60GB.

They probably didn't want to do the extra work. This country is great but we are the laziest country in the world.

Sony REALLY made themselves feel SO stupid during that conference.

He kept saying 'we want to make the transition from the PS2 to the PS3 the easiest we can for the consumer, that's why we are replacing the 40GB with the 80GB with the same features are the 40GB!'

Now explain to me how that is the easiest way to transition to the PS3?

The only thing I Can think of , is that maybe he meant to say " make the 40gb the same as the 80" and not vice versa. Removing BC doesnt make it easier to transition to a ps3. I guess we will have to wait for some other news.

Hopefully.

Sony really got owned by Microsoft this year at E3, Wii is still in it's own catagory.

Just for the record all they are doing is the following.

Taking the 40gig and putting a 80gig hard drive in it.

Keeping the 80gig with the BC and Memory slots.

2 80gig SKUs for 2 different prices. One with BC and Memory slots. One without

I don't agree on that, the only game that really impressed me was GoW 2, that Avatar bullsh*t was just a joke... Geometry Wars 2 was alright but I'll take Super Stardust HD and Blast Factor anyday over that...

Oh and that part where the guy accidently says "it safe to sh*t" instead of "it safe to share" was funnier then hell in Microsoft press conference.

Wouldn't that make it harder for them to differentiate between the two then?
