Default DirecTV question?

I currently have DishNetwork and am planning on switching, and have a question.

I want the HD-DVR receiver, but does anyone know if you can connect two TV's to it? Reason being is I have an HDTV in my room and a standard definition TV upstairs.

My current dishnetwork dvr can send the signal in my room and also upstairs so was wondering if directv hd-dvr would also? I realize I would not get the HD programming upstairs, but would save me from renting an additional receiver just for upstairs.

Thanks to anyone with info.

Sorry Crackin..I don't think its possible with Direct TV.I have the HR20 HD-DVR and a regular HD Box in the bedroom, whatever is recorded in the DVR stays on that recorder.

I work for a company that sells both Dish Net and DirecTv. The HD-DVR only works on one TV. Right now if you go with the NFL Sunday ticket promo you can get the HD DVR for free. Usaully you have to pay 99.99 on approved credit and 199.99 for fee customers. But if you get the NFL Sunday Ticket you get it free along with the premiere package for free for 4 months. If you have ?'s about switching just PM me i will be more than happy to answer your questions. I will even set up your order too

well, I have Verizon internet and phone, and my contract with Dishnetwork is expired...I just found out Verizon has a deal on phone, internet and directv.

In total I have two HDTV's and one SD tv.

So I guess I will need to rent one HD-DVR and a regular HD receiver...as well as one standard dvr for the upstairs.

I just wish I didn't have to pay $100 up front for the HD-DVR!

Yes, you can. In fact, my DirecTV DVR is connected to my Mitsubishi High definition TV in the living room via an HDMI cable and it is also connected to a small TV in the kitchen. What you need to do is go to Walmart or anywhere else and buy an RF Modulator. Connect the RCA audio/video out from the back of the DVR to the RF Modulator and connect a regular Coax cable (preferably RG6, RG59 is junk) from the back of the Modulator to your standard TV. If the signal to your bedroom is weak, buy an RF amplifier to boost the signal.

well if you go with the Sunday ticket then your price would be 84.99 a month. Just add 4.99 for each additonal reciever. If you didnt go with the sunday ticket then your price would be 72.99 and 4.99 for each additonal reciever. but when you get the Sunday ticket you get the Premiere package that has all the Premium movie channels free for 4 months. If no Sunday Ticket then just your local and cable channels. Plus i place your order i will get you 50 bucks of your bill as a referal. I will be off for about an hour. So if any ?'s just PM and ill answer them later

Default Saved a $100 bucks

I just switched to DirecTV also and got an 2 HD boxes, 1 being and hd dvr, After a lil sweet talk and telling them paying $100 bucks for a box was ridiculous, they gave me a $ 10 credit per month for 10 months. Also I had found out in addition to the $9.99 a month HD access fee they now charge an additional $5 bucks per month for a few HD channels they use to include like UHD,MGMHD, HDNET movies etc... Any way got them to include those for 3 months for free. MY advice is tell them you are " considering switching" from cable. They love to take business from cable companies

This will only allow you to watch the same program in the 2 different rooms. The Dish Network reciever is a dual tuner reciever that allows you to connect 2 tv's and watch something different on each one. The Direct reciever is a single tuner reciever that allows you to watch one thing and record another... or record 2 things at the same time. But, every output displays the same picture.

I realize that you have to watch the same program on both TVs. It works for me perfectly.

Actually, I have 4 independent DirecTV receivers for 4 different rooms. I had to buy a 6x8 Zinwell Muti-Switch from Amazon (DirecTV charges too much for it). This particular model accommodates 8 different rooms. I ran two cables from the dish to the multi-switch and 4 cables from the multi-switch to the receivers in 4 different rooms. Since my house is relatively new, I could use the existing cables that were already installed by the builder. We never have a conflict over TV in my house as my kids, my wife, and myself can watch four different programs. The only bad part is that DirecTV charges $4.99 for each receiver.

DirecTV probably has the best sport packages and the most HD programs. You need to check their websites and/or call them. I am only familiar with DirecTV. http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/index.jsp
