Default Update Caused Audio Problem

I am expericencing some static type noise during games. its not my speakers because it dosnt do it during music off the hard drive nor during movies. At first I thought it was just my orange box game that I just bought but I went to go buy grid I found that this game has the prob also. can the static noise damage my speakers? (Just to be clear its happening during gameplay, not talking about when the res is change through hdmi)

Your internal volume settings on the PS3 menu. If it's above normal, reduce it to normal. Report back.

I had it happen to my while playing Guitar Hero III, It was a static sound coming from all speakers. At first I thought it was due to the sparks coming from the ceiling above the stage in the game. I exited the game and cycled the power on the PS3 and it went away. This was when I had 2.40, I have 2.41 now and have not experienced the static sound again?

I am having the exact same problem with Metal Gear Solid 4. Strangely enough I can get the same problem by roaming around the PS3 menu sometimes, but not during a movie.

Where do I find internal sound output level settings in the PS3 menu?
