Fox Announces Wave 2 for Europe (new titles)

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Continuing its industry leadership role and unwavering commitment to the Blu-ray disc format, the only high-definition packaged media format supported by the movie, music, gaming and computing industries, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announced its second wave of upcoming Blu-ray Disc (BD) titles to be released in Europe and Australia. This March, in time for the PLAYSTATION®3 launch, Fox will release an exciting BD line up that includes X-MEN THE LAST STAND, DAY AFTER TOMORROW, FROM HELL, FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX and BD-Java titles BEHIND ENEMY LINES, LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN and SPEED. This will be followed in April with NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM and ERAGON (day and date releases), SENTINEL, ALIEN VS PREDATOR, MEN OF HONOR, COURAGE UNDER FIRE, RISING SUN and PREDATOR. Through the studio’s partnership with MGM, ROCKY, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS and TERMINATOR will also arrive on BD.

A friend went and saw Casino Royale here the other day, and the crowds were still good! This is supposed to come out on disc in only seven weeks.

Nope, either has Eragon. I'm most interested to see how the MGM Termintor compares to the Sony Terminator.

You mean the Fox's version of MGM's Terminator v. Sony's?

The current Terminator is MGM and Sony Pictures labelled.

Yes. But the Fox/MGM version should have DTS-MA vs. PCM on the Sony. I also wonder if they will do a new transfer, or just use the Sony one.

Eragon and Night at the Museum are both listed in the system at Best Buy. I forgot the release dates, but I know Eragon is day and date. I can check later and update.

Cool. The wife will probably want these titles - especially Eragon since it is looking like we won't get to see this in the cinema...

Mah those multiple releases of the same movie from different studios are confusing...
I had 3 or 4 copies of Terminator on DVD and 7 Terminator II eventually. Looks like on BD it'll be the same story all over again.

P.S. Does anyone know how those Canadian releases turned out, that is if they're out?

Night at the Museum has a DVD release of 3/27, although my list somehow mentions 3/20 for the Blu-ray release (maybe from press?). I don't know about Eragon.

Day After Tomorrow, although an awful storyline, will be pretty cool on Blu-ray.
I can't wait for From Hell though, it's been a long time.

I wanted From Hell ever since it was supposed to come out on Dec 5th. The Day after tomorrow wasn't the best movie, but I will probably still pick it up because it should look and sound great, especially since Fox is behind the transfer.

Hmm... well, here's hoping that Eragon and Night at the Museum really will be day-and-date in the U.S. The Eragon film version was pretty meh - radically different from the book - but the effects work on Saphira would be stunning on Blu-ray. A blue dragon for Blu-ray... how appropriate.

Night at the Museum also had some high-quality CG work... it stood up even on an IMAX screen when I saw it. Can't wait for that one, either.
