From "The Digital Bits" 9/15/06:

"We've also updated our High-Def Release List with the latest information from Lionsgate as to their Blu-ray Disc release plans for the rest of 2006 and early 2007. The main thing to know is that their Wave 3 titles, which had been slated to street next month (on 10/17 and 10/26 respectively) have been delayed until January and February of 2007. We also have tentative Blu-ray release dates for titles like The Descent and Saw III. Do check it out."

HiDef Digest, being so overly pro HD DVD, didn't pick up on this for nearly TWO WEEKS! They also have yet to review a Paramount BD disc

If the rumors hold true, then I'm all for it... Give me VC-1, a good audio track, and the extras to keep the other people happy. It also seems like the studios are listening to the feedback the forums are providing. People didn't like the first batches of Lionsgate and Sony BDs and it seems like the studios have done a 180 degree turn for the better.

Keep the quality coming!!

I love that this is the death knell for BD according to some, and will start the domino effect of BD exclusives going neutral or pro-HD DVD.

Uhh, guys? That domino effect started last year when warner and then paramount went neutral. Lionsgate, while having some keen titles, is but a blip on the larger picture.

Oh come on Chris. You know that just about everything that comes out is yet another death knell for BD. HD-DVD has already won the format war. Didn't you know that?

Where's the HD DVD party on an aircraft carrier with the "Mission Accomplished" banner?

I'm glad you pointed that out because after I posted this I thought to myself, wasn't this delay already mentioned?

To me the worst quality BDs are Lionsgate ones, if they're taking extra time to sort out their rotten quality then that's great.

Although I do own Stargate and Stir Of Echoes, I haven't seen any of their BDs yet. I've read polar opposite reviews on Stargate and couldn't find much at all on Stir Of Echoes... Kevin said it's pretty good though so I picked it up too. I do hope to be pleased with the PQ but it goes without saying that I hope that this delay means we'll end up with higher quality discs when they do arrive.

hidefdigest seems to be pretty late in getting release info news

thedigitalbits.com (which seems to have the best contact with studios) and themanroom.com are more on top of things...

actually, dl.tv broke the VC-1 news last week, before thedigitalbits.com (though they did put up new dates first)...

I watched Stir Of Echoes the other day, and I thought the quality was average. I don't recall anything that made me go "Wow! That looks great" but on the other hand there were any moments that I thought were terrible either. I don't regret purchasing it and I will watch it again in the future.
