Default will we ever see sports series on blu-ray

Just wondering if any of you think we will ever see NBA, NFL, MLB, or NHL on blu-ray?

Which sport teams or sporting events would you like to see on blu-ray?

I would love to see Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls on blu. I have the dvds but they are unwatchable on HD.

I would also like to have Super Bowls past and current on blu-ray.

I would love to see the 2005 Rose Bowl game, which was the BCS National Championship game between Texas and USC.

The UFC is supposed to start releases this year. Not quite NFL level, but as a big MMA fan, this is good news. And it's a legitimate sporting event, so good sell through there could only mean good things for other sport releases.

I think UFC is on a totally different level though. Youre not gonna have the guys come over to watch last years monday night football on blu.

In regards to things like past superbowls, MJ on the bulls, Larry Bird etc. is really a niche market. Its those DVDs you see on the late night sports infomercials and stuff, im not really seeing the incentive for studios/companies to invest in that until BD is super mainstream. But who knows im just some random guy on blu ray.com

I agree with you if that is what we are discusssing for release. But I think some of the things mentioned in the thread (marquee bowl games, Super Bowls, etc.) have a similar base of fans to draw from that would purchase those releases as I would past UFC PPV events.
