Default I Still Know UK Import

I apologize if this thread has already been created. I'm new here, as I just got my first Blu Ray player on Saturday! I currently have 6 titles, including the original I Know What You Did Last Summer, one of my favorite nostalgic flicks as an early teen.

I Still Know isn't as good, but I'm still looking to pick this up on BD. I know it's only been released in the Uk and not the US, but I was wondering if anyone's had a chance to check out the UK import? I read an online review that said the video quality of the ISK BD isn't as good as the one for the original. I was wondering if it'd be worth purchasing the UK import or if I should wait until a domestic release.

Thanks!

Welcome!

I live in the UK and I got my copy on Wednesday last week. It's a brilliant transfer, OK it's not the best movie but the whole transition to blu-ray made it really watchable for me, plus it has a great TrueHD soundtrack as well.

I say buy it, you won't be disappointed. It's also region free too.

Enjoy!

Thank you for the advice! Yeah, it's not nearly as good as the original, but I bet it looks nice on blu. I did enjoy some of the chase scenes in the film, though, such as the three running up into the attic, and Brandy's entire chase scene in the greenhouse. Thou, nothing compares to Helen's chase scene in the store in the original. I live in Charlotte, NC now, but my hometown where I grew up was close in distance to Southport, the location of the first film. I've been there. It is a rather quiet, almost creepy, town.

I agree, got mine as well and it's quite a transfer!

I'm waiting for the US release, but if you want it now, go for it. It sounds like a good release.

Why are you waiting for the US release? it'll just be exactly the same as all the other versions.

This may be a factor in my own decision. While I did enjoy I Still Know, I still could wait a while before I ended up purchasing it. I was very excited to own the original, and I snatched it up, but I could probably wait a while for I Still Know. I'm just curious as to why Sony yanked the release so soon to the release date as I'm sure they probably already had copies printed and ready to go. I could be wrong, though. The PQ of the original looks very nice! When Helen broke out of the cop car window, the red brake lights on the back of the car were radiant.

A lot of people say they don't think Blu is a significant improvement over a standard upconverter, especially with a 720p tv, but I disagree. I owned I Know on regular DVD and played it on my upconverter many times and now on Blu Ray and the BD blows the other out the water. Some of the upconverted movies' colors can look a little washed out. I have a 32" Sony Bravia 720p television, and Blu Ray looks so very much better than an upconverted film; the colors pop; It's still VERY detailed, leagues better than any other video source.

The menu system with the hook selector and warning screens are the same as the the I Know What You Did disc. As far as I could tell this could've been the U.S. release. Why they pulled it is beyond me.

I think it looks and sounds pretty good so I'm happy with the import.

Interesting that the menus are virtually identical! I'm baffled at Sony's decision to pull it so suddenly and quickly after working on the transfer and release. If they thought it wouldn't sell well, you'd think they'd have made that decision before publising. *shrugs* Who knows!

As long as you're happy with it! I'm still debating. I doubt Sony would bother working on another transfer for a domestic release since the film itself wasn't that successful so I may cave in and order the import.

Actually it's fairly cheap if you get it amazon.co.uk right now. Cost me about $23USD to have it shipped AirMail.

Thanks to everyone who posted their opinions. I caved in and ordered it from UK Amazon. I'll write once I get the disc to share my opinions of the PQ!

I'll wait until this title goes on sale. I just didn't think it was anywhere as good as the original.

You are right. The original IKWYDLS is far superior to its mindless sequel. ISK lacked the atmosphere and intriguing story of the first. While the original is not a 4-star film by any means, it still holds its own in the horror genre even despite the horror fans who were turned off by the Scream-esque teenybopper period of horror cinema in the late 90s.

I still found ISK entertaining, though, and I'd like to own it on Blu. There's something about mindless horror films that I do enjoy. We all have our weaknesses!
