The Drowning Pool
Default Who designed BD??

Okay so this kinda comes up alot and noone seems to have a definate answer. but who actually created the blu ray format. some automaticly say Sony, but others say Panasonic had a bigger part to play, while TDK and sony developed the media. I really would like to know who actually designed the format at base level up.

or was it just a joint venture between the nine founding members of the BDA?

advice links would be great.

I believe Panasonic came up with the idea.

Thanks gents, is there no sort of hard official links that says this is who did what?

So it looks like it was created with the original 9 BDA members. Is sony acredited with any of the technology? as dont they hold the patents for blu ray disc, or is it just the name they hold?

again thx

Just the name, tech patents are spread between the BDF.
