Default Ordering cables

Got Onkyo 606 on way and not sure of cables I need . I have a Philips CDR-800 player and have only ever connected it RCA style because thats all the old receiver had . What do I need for best connection just a Optical ? Also if someone could post a link to the correct cable for the sub I'm not sure which one it is on monoprice.

Optical connection will be best for that CD player. If you ever upgrade to a Blu-ray player, then you will need to get an HDMI cable pronto! HDMI is the only way to get HD audio and HD picture. The good news is that the 606 will allow you to do both, you just need a BD player and some HDMI cables.

Oh, I overlooked what was in his sig since he was asking about the Philips specifically.

OP, make sure you get HDMI(preferably 1.3) for the PS3, the best option for the Philips will be an optical connection.

It depends on which unit has the best digital to analog converter, the cd player or the receiver. If the cd player has the best dac then analog cables are the right choice, if not then digital connection is the right one, digital coax or if you need to, optical.
