Default Question about ordering cables for my components/speakers

When one orders speakers, receivers, BD players, subwoofers etc I'm guessing the cables do not come with them. So...would someone mind looking at my shopping list and telling me if I am either 1) wrong or 2) missing anything?

LCD TV - 2 HDMI 35 foot cables (going intra-wall between two jacks)
- 1 short HDMI cable to the HDMI jack
BD Player - 1 short HDMI cable to the Receiver
- 1 Audio component cable to receiver? guessing the L/R banana plug type?
Receiver - 1 short HDMI cable to the HDMI jack
- 1 short coaxial cable from cable box to receiver
- 1 short RCA? type cable (for subwoofer) from receiver to wall speaker jack plate
- 7 short banana plug type? component cables from receiver to wall speaker jack plate
- 1 short RCA? type cable subwoofer to wall speaker jack plate

And, of course, the in-wall speaker wire.

Thanks in advance.!

Where are you planning on getting the 35 footers? You're going to need some heavy-duty HDMI cables for that!!
BD Player - 1 short HDMI cable to the Receiver
- 1 Audio component cable to receiver? guessing the L/R banana plug type?
Above is not necessary if you are already using HDMI! Banana Plugs are for speakers to receiver, not players to receiver.

Receiver - 1 short HDMI cable to the HDMI jack
- 1 short coaxial cable from cable box to receiver
For Audio? And What about Video? Or is that the one above?
- 1 short RCA? type cable (for subwoofer) from receiver to wall speaker jack plate
- 7 short banana plug type? component cables from receiver to wall speaker jack plate
What do you mean by this?
- 1 short RCA? type cable subwoofer to wall speaker jack plate

And, of course, the in-wall speaker wire.

Thanks in advance.!
My comments bolded - rest looks good! Be sure to pick up 12-14 AWG CL-rated for in-wall, of course.

For the 35 foot HDMIs...
BJC Series-1 Belden Bonded-Pair HDMI Cables
*recommended by guitarist155 in the HDMI thread (thanks buddy!)

So...the BD player only needs a HDMI cable between it and the receiver? That's it?

The Receiver HDMI cable goes to the wall HDMI jack (that goes to the TV)...I guess if I get an HDMI cable box I will need another HDMI cable from the comcast cable box to the receiver? Hadn't realized that

The 7 component cables are for my in-wall ceiling speakers and center channel that I will be wiring to a wall plate...from the wall plate I will plug them in to the receiver...I'm assuming I need a seperate cable with 'banana plugs" on each end for each speaker jack

I'm a total newbie with this stuff...sorry for sounding so ignorant

Is there an S-Audio or some other cable I'm missing somewhere?

Can you list the models of all your equipment? That way we can tell you which cables you need between where.

Most likely, any connection using an HDMI cable to your receiver will not need an optical audio cable since HDMI can carry both audio and video. Also, 35' is a LONG distance. Is the wall jack and TV really 35 feet apart? I usually only see those distance with projectors or if the HT gear is in another room. I may be wrong, though.

Well, if the reciever has hdmi, that is all you need for the blu-ray. For hooking up your speakers you need to use regual speaker wire. I use some of the 12 guage cl2 rated speaker wire from monoprice.com, and it worked well, you can get some banana plugs from there also. You could get the 35ft hdmi from there also, all the tests I have seen say that they work for that length, and they are cheap. They sell wall plates also that I have heard are good. I would by all the cables from monoprice (all the cables I have bought there are great)

Sony KDL-52XBR6
*plugging into wall jack with 2 HDMI ports

I'm going with the exotic HDMI cable because this is a difficult install. If I have problems with the cable it'll cost me alot to re-do. I'd rather pay a premium upfront and get a solid rated cable for the distance.

Sony BDP-S550 player
Comcast HD Box
Onkyo TX-SR706 (still mulling this option)
Subwoofer A2-300 or Polk PSW125 or the BIC F12 (still mulling this option)

(4) Polk RC80i ceiling speakers
(2) Polk RC85i wall speakers
(1) Polk LCi-C center

All being wired via in-wall rated 16 gauge speaker wire (recommended by Polk) to a 7.1 jack

If you plan on two wall jacks (one at the TV and one at the receiver), then you will need:

- a short HDMI cable from the TV to the wall jack
- a long HDMI cable between wall jacks
- a short HDMI cable between the wall jack and receiver
- a short HDMI cable between Sony BD player and receiver
- a short HDMI cable between Comcast HD box and receiver
- an RCA cable between subwoofer and receiver
- 12 gauge in wall speaker wire (16 gauge is too small even if Polk recommends it.)
- banana plugs for all speaker wire

I would go with at least 14g speaker wire.
