Default Question for owners of the Yamaha HTR6160 (Or RX-V663)

If the speakers being used with this receiver all have a normal impedance of 8ohms, is there any tweaking required on the receiver or is it "plug and play" (for lack of better phrase)?

I noticed in the manual there's a how to section for setting the speaker impedance but it doesn't say what the default is.

I may be way off here or have said something silly, but i'm learning as i go...

Thanks guys

I have the 663 and I think I remember that 8 ohms is the default. But you're fine if you have 8 ohms speakers.

'most' recievers are defaulted at 8 ohms, and sometimes can accomodate speakers (fiddling with the settings) with a lower impendance.

anything lower than 8 ohms would push the reciever to work a little harder.

get the speakers first.

Default New Question.....

So i've got the receiver (finally) and all the speakers are set up but i'm having a weird issue.

On the front of the reciever, the only channels that are 'lit up' are left and right. Furthermore, when i go into the OSD setup menu and look at the Signal Info screen, it shows the following:

Format: PCM
Sampling: 48hz
Channel: 2/0

It's probably worth noting at this point that all the speakers are actually working. Movies are playing normally and using all 5 channels etc.

Something is off here. Any thoughts?

Thanks
