Default PS3 Blu-Ray movie art

Just would like to know, if it just me but I notice that some of my Blu-ray movies displays the cover art when disc is in may system and some Blu's do not. Why aren't all movies arts displaying?

You are referring to the ps3 menu right?

It requires an additional, but small, file. Some studios just don't include it on the disc. Sony started doing it last fall, I believe one of the first discs to include this was Bram Stoker's Dracula.

depends on the studio.

i believe the first discs to do this was either dracula or surf's up from Sony, every Sony disc since then does it that I have.

Disney started a similar thing not to long ago.

I believe Paramount has it too.

I have not bought a Fox disc recently, WB still doesn't do it I believe and have no clue about Uni.

What I want is a little PiP of the disc with a nice big 1080p background like games have.

The BDs with PS3 image thumbnails in the menu are typically BD-J authored discs. They're also among the group of discs that don't support the "resume play" function.

I haven't seen the menu thumbnails on any BDMV disc compatible with "resume play."

"The Bucket List" had it as well.

I'm blanking on whether or not "Fool's Gold", "Batman Begins", or "Batman: Gotham Knight" had it...

Wait, you mean that it's not possible to stop and resume playing film ? How stupid is that ?

Certain discs don't support the feature.

With a "BDMV" disc, such as Crimson Tide, I can stop the movie and even take the disc out of the PS3 and play something else. Next time I put Crimson Tide in the PS3 it will automatically jump back to the point in the movie where it was stopped. Pretty cool feature.

A "BD-J" disc with the snazzy PS3 menu thumbnail, such as The Mummy or 30 Days of Night, will not resume play. If you stop the movie the whole thing will have to reload. You get to chapter past those trailers and start the movie over again. OTOH, some of those BD-J movies will allow you to book mark spots in the movie. But you still have to jump past the trailers, menus or other stuff the disc throws in the way of getting back to that spot.
