Default Most Re-watchable Genre?

As simple as the title states. Particularly when paying a hefty price for BD's, the "re-watchability" of a particular movie can factor into the purchasing decision. Of course this varies from movie to movie, but which genre, in general, do you find most re-watchable?

Since there is considerable overlap between some (e.g., war movies can be both action and drama), I'm going to stick to the basics.

im gonna say Drama....

I think Comedy is the least....it wears thin after some viewings.....

Action, Animation, or Horror for me is a close second....probably with Horror being two, Animation Three, and Action Four if I had to choose....

all of them..... I have favorites across all genres that are very rewatchable....

as far as comedies.... a well done comedy can stand the test of time (Caddyshack, Lebowski, Fargo, Clerks, Dr. Strangelove, etc)

i voted action, but also think animation is a very close second. think about all the cartoon movies out there that are rewatched by millions of kids. man i know my daughters Little mermaid dvd is almost worn out it has been played so many times.

The most rewatchable films for me tend to be the family oriented action adventure movies, particularly those that I grew up with. The Indiana Jones movies and Star Wars movies are at the top of that list. It's always fun going back and watching movies from your childhood because they seem so nostalgic.

I'm going to saw Comedy as theres quite a few comedies that just seem to get more funny the more times you watch it!

Few Examples:
-Old School
-The Big Lebowski
-Anchorman
-Napolean Dynamite

I'll have to agree, even though comedy isn't my favorite genre. I can say I've seen those movies over and over and over again. And don't forget, Office Space (i own the ovie and still watch the reruns on tv), Something about Mary, Zoolander, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and many, many others. I've seen them more than even my favorite movies altogether.

I'll have to go with drama:

Action: You eventually would remember all the scenes
Comedy: You eventually would remember all the jokes
Horror: You eventually would remember all the scares
Musical: You eventually would remember all the songs

But with drama, it (supposed to) gives you a feeling. Whether that feeling is sadness or joy or longing or whatever... it gives that to you. And it doesn't matter if you remember how it makes you feel, because remembering a time when you were sad is completely different than feeling sad.

And animation can be any of those genres, which is why I didn't single it out.

Action was my vote. Wanted to vote sci-fi but figured it would be considered action.

In general though, (for me) it really depends on the movie and often times has nothing to do with the genre. It could be a particular scene or the score or some other aspect that really appeals to me getting me to watch it more than another movie of the same genre/type etc.

I think animation is as much of a genre as things like sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, etc., but the difference is the latter are almost always action, so it was easier to condense, whereas some people (like myself) like animation movies only because they are animated (not because of the type of story).

Under a similar logic, I ended up figuring action was the best. My only gripe with dramas is that sometimes you just don't want to see them again, or they can be too much to sit through very often. Action, in a mind-numbing sense, can be watched over and over, just to see things go boom.

i know what you mean, in fact i voted for animation.

i like the way it looks and i usually enjoy the lighter stories.

the fact is though animation is not a genre as any genre can be portrayed in an animated style. just look at movies lie persopolis and the clone wars and its obvious they shouldn't be in the same "genre" with toy story and shrek.

I picked action, but I can rewatch a lot of comedies, and animated films as well.

I also find shorter movies a little easier to rewatch. EE of Lord of the Rings for example are certainly rewatchable, but I don't find myself rewatching them as often as many other films in my collection.

action for me. i was going to choose comedy but the above poster is right it does get stale sometimes if watched too many times in a short amount of time. i usually let my comedies sit for a while before a rewatch

I picked none as those on the list are far too generic in my opinion. As the OP said a particular genre such as war could be either action or drama, or both, etc.

Having said that, for me the top 3 most re-watchable movie catagories (since the OP does not want to defines these as genres) are:

1) War
2) Sci-Fi
3) Western

I rarely watch a comedy more than twice, and my collection probably reflects that. If I were to add a 4th it could be either horror or musicals, really depends on the particular movie.

One question: Do pornos count?
