I'll have to go with drama:

Action: You eventually would remember all the scenes
Comedy: You eventually would remember all the jokes
Horror: You eventually would remember all the scares
Musical: You eventually would remember all the songs

But with drama, it (supposed to) gives you a feeling. Whether that feeling is sadness or joy or longing or whatever... it gives that to you. And it doesn't matter if you remember how it makes you feel, because remembering a time when you were sad is completely different than feeling sad.

And animation can be any of those genres, which is why I didn't single it out.
