Cool 160GB PS3 to launch on 31st October

Quote:
By the look of the box on screen, it looks just like the other PS3s.

That will include EUR 70 of additional downloadable content, "to be announced closer to the release date".

It will be the same spec as the 80GB but with the extra hard drive space, and priced at EUR 449.

He's announcing a 160GB PS3 to launch on 31st October. Halloween.

I suppose its going to be a US release as well or just Europe? A 160Gb PS3 sounds ridiculous.

Why did I have to get my PS3 early? I just missed out on an offer of a lifetime with the downloadable content. Well, theres always the PSN cards to look foward to.

Very nice.. but I wonder if it will be fully backwards compatible?

I still love my 60 gig and one day I'll pop a 250 gigger in there.

I believe they have said in the past they are doing away with the Backwards compatibilitiy because they view the people who get PS3's as a totally different market than the people who get PS2's or 1's.

Plus I don't think they have any plan to stop producing the old ones, so there's no financial reason to keep making the 3's backwards compatible.

Id get it as my 2nd ps3 if it had BC
Otherwise ill prob just get the new 80gig since its cheaper, aslong as it has the smaller chip that uses less power.

Im tired of people saying "who needs BC, just use your old PS2"
Its not the same, anyone whos played a PS2 game on a PS3 on an HDTV knows how amazing the PS3 is for upscaling. And thats important since I only have HDTVs.

I just bought a 160GB hard drive too Oh well, my guess is that this will be about $100 more and the hard drive itself was only $65.

90GB left on our 250GB drive. Less than 2 years into the lifespan. If you use the full potential as a media hub it's not that much space. MP3's, photos, home videos, demos, etc..

56gb free on my 250...
I have the 20gb model so no card slots/wi-fi/silver trim...but it disappears in the dark which is nice.

My 60GB has the whole range of connections which the 40GB and the future 160GB don't have plus backward compatibility.

What about the 80GB model ?

Basicly the same as the 40 GB, except a bigger hard drive.

Heck, I might purchase another PS3 as a BD-Player for my sister.

I have more than 160GB worth of stuff that I want on my PS3... It is like a movie and TV jukebox. I still am waiting for the 1TB 2.5" drive!
