Default Blu-ray popularity

For those debating the popularity of Blu-ray, check out this forum discussion...... He has great equipment too.... so for what it's worth, you can't really put him in the "average" consumer bucket, as he buys high-quality gear.... but his thought process if fundamentally flawed in terms of what he believes the player is capable of, but this is a classic case of "good enough for me" mentallity..... which is going to be a growing trend I suspect.....

Either way, it's a good read, although I made a tiny retort (Johnny P)

It's clearly a case of having more money than sense.

I liked this quote:

Quote:
And when DVD and Blu-Ray are both replaced by media servers and streaming downloads, you'll be stuck with DRM protected Blu-Ray disks, while I can quickly rip my entire collection to a media server and enjoy all of the movies I've purchased for as long as I wish. So in fact, your overpriced Blu-Ray player will be obsolete before mine.

This person figures that downloads would have LESS DRM?

pretty funny read. Pretty funny to drop that much $$ on a DVD player as well, at least in my eyes.

true, I have two actually, theres one built into the DVR(burner) and just a dvd player. Dont want the extra mileage on the bluray player that I dont need. I havent reied watching them on the s350 yet, but on the ps3 they were awful and the s300 took so long to start up I didnt even bother

Ahh, I was wondering. Wasn't sure if it was worth spending extra on a "good" upconverting player. At the moment I use Phillips players (due to their region-free/PAL-NTSC standard support), but had been considering an OPPO for a while.

Half.

I was born in the states. I don't speak it, etc... I certainly don't "embrace" my heritage like my wife, who is able to fluently speak another language, etc.

If you can speak another language than you obviously will reach out to whoever speaks it too. If you spoke Polish you would probably too.
I was just curious because I saw your avatar on that other site. I'm 100% white and red
