Default Guys need help quick!

It looks like my wife might be letting me get the new sound system I want. I'm in Canada and am going to order from ebay. There are 3 different stores I need to order from all in the states but they ship to Canada! They are like the E warehouse and places like that so my question is. Are these stores legit and ok to buy from. They won't steal my credit card number or anything will they?? Also will I have to pay any additional shipping cost when the stuff is actually delivered to me. They give me the cost to ship to my postal code but I just don't want any surprises. I might be ordering tonight so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A few dollars more to buy from someone with 1,000 + transactions and positive feedback, is better than saving a few bucks and buying from someone with less than 100 sales with a positive feedback score

If you're using ebay... use paypal, and your credit card # never goes to them. Problem solved.

You also have a greater degree of protection (though some will argue as to how much) using paypal vs. paying them directly.

paypal is like an automatic bank transfer. You set up your bank account with it and it will draw the money straight out of your account to make purchases.
You can also use credit cards with it if you want.
When you use these through ebay, you are guaranteed by ebay that they will not be ripping you off or you get your money back and they get in trouble.
Also, if they have good feedback, that means customers, like you, gave them good reviews. The more positive feedback, the more reliable they are. good luck and grats!

I was just wondering why you don't buy your stuff locally. Aren't there any local electronics places you could get stuff from? Just curious.

obi the prices around here (ontario) are more than double, in some cases triple what it would be to buy it from ebay.

If the price difference is that big, I'd be very surprised if the eBay items were brand new, in box, with warranty. Be very careful. (There's nothing wrong with eBay--I've bought a few things form there myself--but, caveat emptor.)

I just so happend to buy two polk monitor 50's from the e warehouse on ebay, and with the live cash back it was 200.00 shipped, both were new and in sealed boxes. Everything works great and it was pretty fast shipping too.

You know of course that any warranty is meaningless if your purchase from the U.S. (and vice-versa). Which means.....you buy it, you own it!

even if there is no warranty if they break down in the first few months the place has to replace them.

As other s have said:

1) Set up a PayPal account and use it to pay for the purchase.

2) Instead of drawing the money from your bank account, make your payment at PayPay with a credit card. This allows you to contest the charges with your credit card company if there are problems and eBay/PayPal refuse to help.

3) Check the seller's feedback from buyers (not other sellers). Make sure they are at least 95+% positive, and have several hundred ratings.

4) Look through the last month's feedback comments, paying particular attention to the transactions involving the items you are looking to buy (assuming the seller sells the same products frequently).

5) Carefully review any negative feedback comments. Some will obviously be unwarranted, but look for any patterns (bait-n-switch, damaged goods, etc.)

6) CAREFULLY read the entire listing! Make sure you understand the seller's policies and exactly what is being sold. You'd be surprised at some of the scams people try to pull on eBay, but 3-5 above should keep you from anything really wrong.

Good luck.

That set of speakers looks good...if and when you get them let us know how they sound. Seems like a good deal
