Default Samsung 4065F a lot a blur....

Well i have a Samsung 40" 4065F for near a year now, and i don't know if it's the settings or me beeing psycho about it, but i see a lot of blur when "people" or "object" are moving on tv.. and Blu-ray movies. Sometimes it seems less, sometimes more.. why is that?

I've watch Beowulf recently and there was a lot!!! Jumper also, it's like when there's fast movements, it's like a second copy of the moving object.. I don't know how to call this... Motion blur?

Anyway is there a way to reduce it? i'm kind of pissed because i invested 3k in the tv, cable receiver and such..... and i really hate it, it was better with my 120$ SD tv....

Is there HDTV without those?

help???

Yeah man your t.v. is not 120 Hz which aleviates(sp?) motion blur. The 71 series and 69 series had this feature but not the 65.

Short of buying a new set no. This years models that have 120 HZ are the 630 and above.

Have you done any sort of calibration on your set? I own a 60Hz set and have never seen motion blur on it.

Calibration has nothing to do with motion blur thats the t.v. not being able to keep up with the action. Everybody eyes are different. Some ppl see it some dont... ::

True, but an uncalibrated TV might be causing all kinds of other artifacts that is being mistaken for motion blur.

i have the 4066f dude and you can calibrate the tv, that will make the blur less noticable

the settings i use are fantastic. If you are not used to a darker picture though it might take a while to get used to it, but these settings produce blacks that are as black as plasmas that i have seen. Give them a try, worst thing you will have to do is change the settings again! Oh and the 4065f and the 4066f are basically the same tv apart from contrast ratio i believe 4065f 10000:1 vs 4066f 15000:1

Mode = Movie
Contrast =100
Brightness = 50
Sharpness = 20
Color = 55
Tint = G56 R44
Backlight = 4
Color Tone = Warm 2
Digital NR = Off
Active color = greyed Out
DNie = greyed out

DETAILED SETTINGS

Black Adjust = Off
Dynamic Contrast = Off
Gamma = -1
Color Space = Wide
Edge Enhancement = Off
xvYCC = On

WHITE BALANCE

R-Offset = 17
G Offset = 15
B Offset = 11
R Gain = 4
G Gain = 14
B Gain = 30

My Color Control All 15
HDMI Black Level = Low
Energy Saving = Off

blu's look unreal on these settings, and hd cable looks phenominal as well! Do i get motion blur? sure i do!, even 120hz sets still get some motion blur but these setting will def make it less noticable!

WOW thx! btw the 4065 as a 15000:1 ratio

I never calibrated my TV indeed, it's still on the default setting, but i will try tomorrow for sure, it's a great TV for sure, but it's worth more than my car LOL i just wanted the perfect product right out of the box, but damn, so far the TV is god-like for gaming!

There's some movie also that dosen't show any blur, first of all cartoon Animation dosen't seem to show any (Batman: Gotham Knight for exemple) and i've got a few movies that we're picture perfect (Casino Royale, Fifth Element, Blade Runner) But there's some it's just worst than DVD's on my old SD tv, and that's very frustrating...sometimes it makes me wonder is HDTV is just a "not-really-ready" product and they are just pushing it up our a**es...

BUT i don't get a lot of artifacts and grains (besides "300" lol) so far i'm very pleased with the TV.

But if i buy a new one, in 2-3 years maybe, i'll be looking for the best in term of "non-motion-blur"

thx brett_day, i'll be adding you to my PS3

You would see motion blur on all sources if that was your problem. Calibrate your TV and I think you will see a big difference. The default is probably vivid, or something of the sort, which is no good at all.

So i tried Predator on Blu-Ray, the setting are great, i made a few minor tweaks to it, it was far too dark for my room setting, so i maxed the backlight and ajusted the contrast ratio and it's wonderfull now, at first it seemed too purple, when you're in predator vision, it's suppose to show blue and not purple, but i fixed it, and it looks great, it looks more real, the movie Predator dosen't show any motion blur.. i think it really depends on the movie but i don't think i own any movie with a lot of motion blur. It also reduced the grains in the movie as Predator is a very grainy movie.

The setting are very nice with the PS3 also, color is great, it's less flashy than it used to be, now it's more real colors that you would see in real life.

So far i have to wait to see a movie with a lot of motion blur, and see the difference.

So thx for all the help i really appreciate.

no probs! glad you like the settings. With the color tint i thnk every set is different. I tend to have a red tint on my set so i hardly push red at all, but yeah the ps3 looks fantastic on these settings, games are awesome. let me know if you have anymore q's!

I have the 4065F and I've not experienced any problems with blurring on Blu-ray movies or PS3 games. Sorry, I don't watch much SD TV so I can't comment on that. DVDs look fluid also... so it must be your settings. Best of luck!

might not only be settings though, alot can depened on if the set has either the trident or cortez processor in it. Samsung used to use the trident processor, but sammy got cheap and started using the cortez procesor. Only way you can tell which you have is by going into the service menu.

I have the trident processor in my set but still get motion blur and grain but changing your settings can reduce it greatly! users with the cortez processor seem to have less luck in getting rid of the grain and blocking. There is a whole thread about it on AVS forums.
