Hey guys. We're upgrading to a HD projector soon, and already having a PS3, blu ray will be vital to our entertainment. I've been around enough forums to know that threads like these may be all to common, so if its an issue tell me, and I'll remove it.
Heres my question: Whats the five best Blu Ray releases? (Other than transformers, I hate that movie). I understand opinions come into play, but I'm generally open to watch any movie. Thanks guys! |

That's an amazingly beautiful documentary. Definitely demo material in many places. Also, pretty much anything from Disney will look amazing. Last edited by LORDs_angellos; 09-25-2008 at 12:43 AM. |

One question about Blu Ray and what not:
The projector we are looking at is a 720p projector. I'm fairly certain I have heard that we can still use blu ray on it, but will I still be able to enjoy the HD experience? Or do I need to go all out on 1080p? |

You can enjoy some of the aspects blu ray offers at 720p however to enjoy the maximum potential that blu ray has to offer.....go 1080p. 1080p resolution--which equates to 1,920x1,080 pixels--is the current Holy Grail of HDTV resolution.

Transfering into the Hi-Def generation takes time, knowledge, and most of all money. This stuff isn't cheap. I would tell you to go 1080 but you also have to go with what you can afford. Don't be afraid to ask questions and most of all DO NOT be afraid to use the search function if there is something you need answered. The search is your friend!

You would be correct. The standard-def DVD edition of 'Planet Earth' includes ten minutes of behind-the-scenes footage for each of the eleven episodes, plus 110 minutes worth of bonus material entitled 'Planet Earth – The Future,'. For whatever reason, none of this content is carried over to the high-def editions.

Well, Transformers is probably the best out there, but you said you didn't like it, so the five in my collection that are probably the best quality have to be:
- Nightmare Before Christmas - Blade Runner - Casino Royale - Pixar Short Films - Speed Racer (only if you either don't have a big sound system or don't care about lossless audio) |
