Do you use your PS3 for movies only?

For several games it is required that u upgrade the firmware to play online.

Example: Call of Duty 4, when new firmware is out, it requires for me to upgrade to play online.

I usually wait for a few days to make sure no one's having any bugs, but I always get them at some point or another.

Regardless of what electrical device you are referring to, upgrading the Firmware is generally a good idea. Though I recommend waiting 2 days after its released and see if its recalled before downloading/installing it. I think its good to have it installed as it can give you additional features that you may not have had before or better playback.
