When does downloading a game make sense to you?

I want to play Siren so badly, I really do. But for some reason I just haven't been able to bring myself to buy the download - I've discovered I have this strange need to own the hard copy so I can display it proudly on my shelf, but I don't seem to have that same problem with other games.

In fact, I would prefer some other games to be available as downloads - such as Everybody's/Hot Shots Golf. I would indeed like to have that game on my hard drive so I could pull it up between tense gaming sessions of other titles such as Condemned or Ninja Gaiden.

I guess ultimately though, what I'm asking is when would you buy a hard copy of a game and when would you buy a digital copy?
