yes but a great deal can be had because of this! I am not sure of how much better the newer models are going to be, but the XBR5 is a great choice, especially if one gets it at a good price

I got the XBR3 when the 4 and 5s came out and I love my T.V.

I've seen the 120 Hz and don't like it. I got a killer deal on it as it was on clearance

i'll be honest. the new models suck compared to the xbr 4 and 5. sony turned to sharp to maunfacture their panels this year instead of samsung. i work at c city and the new models, even the top z series, looks nowhere near as good as the xbr 4 we still have on display

Ok so now i have heard that Sony gets LG, Samsung and now Sharp to make the panels. Oh and they had NEC making their plasma panels. I have no problem with our XBR6s, I am just sure the 8s will be an extra improvement :-)

i agree with you but the xbr is and has always been a different ball game... but if it does look anything like the others it will a step backwards... only time will tell... and the xbr8 are only going to be in 46 and 55 inch screens

If you can get an XBR4 or 5 at clearance prices, go for it. You won't be dissapointed.

As to the new XBR sets......I'm sure they will be fine no matter who manufactures the panels. There are only a few panel makers out there and everyone buys from them and then adds there own features and processors.

I did the same thing. However, I like the 120Hz better. I got my 46" XBR3 for $2300 brand new.
