Default Would like help/opinions on building a theater system

Hello Everyone. I'm new to the idea of building one's on custom theater system. I have decided not to buy just the off the shelf prebuilt together sysetm, say from like walmart. But I'm clueless as to tech specs and eveything so here's what I need and want from my fellow blu people. I need thoughts on a good receiver now from the past I've learned to be somehwat specific. so here's what I know and at the least want.

1. an HDMI input and output. (mainly for the BLuray in and then video feedout to my fullHD TV)
2. lossless or uncompressed(which ever don't know the difference) audio, basically I want to gain the best possible sound from the bluray format.
3. at least 5.1 channel or can be up to 7.1 (I know that most titles are able to go up to 7.1 channel)
4. At least 1000 watt/ no I'm not sure if I want tthat to be peak or RMS (I want the option to be able to feel the bass and everything as if I was in the actual theater watching and listening.)
5.No I don't want wireless ready, I'd rather run wires.
6. I know most realy good receivers are a good penny but I don't want to spend and arm and a leg to get a good one.
7. As for other specs I have no idea I don't know about the ohms, or volts, or freq, orcut offs or anything but I'm sure you people can help me out or you can give me a quick lesson on that. Hopefully I covered a good part of everything.

After al these thought and opinions I will be asking about speakes and A very good Sub (I love bass and can never get to much I like to feel the bass, earth shaking bass )

Um If any one does have a very good Idea then please just send me a message, or if you can educate (lol spelled that wrong) me on the stuff a bit more (please give it to me in very simple simple simple terms lol if thats possible) but if you do just have what you recommend then feel free to reply thanks alot everyone. Oh plus if you could give me balpark figures on prices and where, I'd really rather not buy on-line unless you can give websites that are very reputable.

Well right now I have a samsung BD-P1400 and a 50" full HD plasma TV, and as far as pricve is conserned I don't exactly have a HUGE budget that I'm willing to pay for but I don't want to have to spend more then $500. I understand that the more I want the more it's gonna cost I also understand I can't get a real good system for penny's on the dollar I know I'm gonna hev to strech my wallet a bit. So as far as cost goes just impress me wiht what available right now and just inform me the cost it will up to me to determine on whats good for me at this point.

...and a sub that will knock your socks off?

Sony STRDG820

Polk Audio RM6750 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System

~$600

...thats about as low as you should go and still have decent quality. The sub may not be what you need and its only 5.1, but it would be a nice entry level system.

Hmm... $500.00 you say?

Honestly, for something nice, My advice would be to not plan on a system, and instead save your money. Here is why. You buy a low-end $500.00 HTIB (which I believe you said you DIDN'T want... something about not wanting one from Wal-Mart?), and you deal with it for a few years, and yearn for more. Then you go all out and blow $2,000.00 on a better quality HT setup.

Well, you have sort of wasted the $500.00 there.

My advice would be to keep saving until you have $1,000.00, and purchase an entry level receiver (Onkyo TX-SR606 ~$400.00) and some nice entry level front left and right speakers with the remaining ~$600.00. Check out the receiver and the Axiom speakers in my signature, or check out offerings from Klipsch in that range.

With that, you will have a very nice 2.0 set up. Save another ~$200.00 and invest it in a nice center channel speaker. Save another ~$500.00 for a subwoofer, and go for another ~$200.00 saving spree to get your surrounds.

$2,000.00 or so, and you will have a very, VERY respectable setup that you will enjoy for years. Check out the brands in my signature, and try to audition them if possible. I chose the quick and easy path at first with a $500.00 Polk budget system, and within a year, I was tired of the low-end sound. I realize that everyone recommends what they own, and I have not auditioned many systems, however, I love my setup, in a major way. It is the best sounding HT I have ever heard in someone's home. Are there better? Absolutely.

Take your time, do it right, you will thank yourself for the lack of wasted time and money. Check out the gear in my sig. Also check Denon, Yamaha, Klipsch and Definitive Technology for their HT offerings.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck. Home theater is very fun. There is nothing like firing up a Blu-ray on a nice HT and sitting back enjoying a clearer picture than you can get in a theater.
