Default How Do I go About Building a Custom Home Theater System and Room?

I am thinking to make a room like a home theater. On how they should go about installing their own custom built-in home theater system. Although the information provided on an internet is informative in explaining home theater basics, what is available to use in your home theater, how to shop for your home theater components, and how to connect and use your home theater components.

First think about want you in your theater from tv or projecter . speaker layout where do you want to put them. seating and ligthing. go to projector people .com then home theater gallerey. check out other people layouts. pickup hometheater mags for tip and latest reviews . start with your reciever first .thats going to be your central control center. you can buy a nice one for $600 that does every thing you would need

First things first, you need to have an idea of a budget, and how much you are willing and able to spend. You need to consider your room size. If you are planning to convert a larger room, and will be able to control the light, then that opens up the world of Projectors.

Last year, I decided to turn a relatively dark, little used room in the front area of my house to a theatre. I researched it for months, and was first planning on having it as a dual theatre/living room. I looked at various TV's, LCD's etc, but didn't move on it until I measured the room and discovered that I had plenty of room for a screen and projector.

Upon doing the research, I was able to find a deal and got the projector and screen. It took some time to set it up, but once I did it was worth it. I pieced everything together over time. I also decided, once setting up the projector, to build the room as a dedicated theatre.

What you will do will be determined on your vision and the limitations of your budget and space in the room. Try looking at some of the galleries on this website for some good ideas. Make sure to shop around for the best prices on all of your components - even if you have to wait longer to get the room fully functioning - the money you save will be worth it.

I agree with Disky76 and would like to add that it's pretty amazing the kind of theater/sound system you can put together today compared to even a few years ago. You can buy 1080p projectors for the same cost as high-end larger LCDs--sometimes even cheaper. With a little research, you can find plenty of receivers with all of the latest codecs (meaning they can decode all current Dolby and DTS technologies) for $500 or less. That's just crazy.

So yeah, define a budget and see how far it can take you. Don't forget to use Monoprice or Bluejeans for your cables and wiring which will save you considerable $$.
