Default HELP......What would be the best all around 7.1 set-up to get for speakers?

O.K........I must swallow my pride(there wasn't that much there to begin with),and turn to my fellow forum brothers, for advice. I want to get new speakers, but i am so confused as to wich brand to get. I love the klipsch,Paradigm's, and the Polks seem real nice. I want speakers that put out excellent response and soundfield, but I'm so torn between them all. Martin Logans sound incredible, but I can't afford them. Any hints on what to look for? I have the Bose Acoustimass 16 series set-up now (please NO bashing, I've heard it all before), and they sound really nice, but I'm learning that I am missing out on the "whole" sound field..........I would like to use smaller speakers if I can get away with that.I heard the Anthony Gallo's, and to me they sound better than the Bose, but still seem shallow, and lack the "fullness" of floor standing speakers. What I don't want to do is buy new speakers, and realize weeks later, that I made a bad choice.I always give advice to others, to listen for themselves, but I thought this time I would take the advice from people who know more than I do, or have experienced "first hand" what these new generation of theater speakers are like. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. .......Thanx all

if you want smaller speakers, you will almost always lack performance compared to floorstanders... now if you're willing to look at some of Klipsch's smaller floorstanding speakers, and have a budget in mind, I can offer advice based on budget... and please state whether the budget is including a receiver or if you are sticking with the trusty Onk. (i wouldnt change that personally)

I'm sure he's not ready to give up his 805 just yet. You could look into Mirage speakers. They have the Omnisat V2 system that is supposed to be really good. You could also check out Orb Audio.

A good compromise between satellites and Floor standers are bookshelfs....... many nice ones out there.... my current mains are bookshelf speakers (B&W 705s) and although not as "grand" as my old 703s, they get the job done quite nicely.....

NOW.... of course you gotta come up with a budget.... which is the hard part

Somewhere around $2,000-$2,500? (may be able to push it to $3,000). Only problem is, I'm not sure when I can do this(too many birthdays, holidays coming up!)So, I guess I'll be looking around for a while. should give me some time though to decide. The more ideas the better though!

for that price, from Klipsch I would look at something like the RB-61 Home Theatre with the RS-42s as surrounds and the RS-10s as surround backs and a velodyne or eDesigns subwoofer.

B&W, Paradigm (I will get to thoses in a moment), one that you don't hear on this site often...Totem Mites for front and center and lynks for the side channels. You could go a ML sub (this is with the 3000.00 budget). Another way to go would be Paradigm but step it up to Monitor 20v4 series (they extend to 36hz by themselves and they are bookshelf speakers). Use 5 of these jokers!!! You can add a sesmic sub and you would have a killer system. These are just to get you started on your journey - whatever you do....listen! You can make a grand system with this budget !

oops, its 7.1, you can do the Paradigm system at $2500.00 and run it full range to all channels. You can also change the Mites to Dreamcatchers to help with the budget

I enjoyed the sound from Mordaunt Short speakers when I happened to be looking at Revels. Many good things have been said about this company and are a good value.

It might interest you if you want to take a look.

For $2,000? To $3,000? That's my same road! I went from getting Klipsch RF-82s and an Onkyo 705 to my current set up because I kept looking for the best I could afford - you won't regret your decisions, your audio will keep you happy for a long time!

The Axiom M60s are gorgeous speakers, I looked into those as well - their 30-day in home trial was hard to resist (I didn't do it, but I heard nothing but sparkling reviews for those, including from our own Dobyblue)...I don't know much about Paradigm, since the one time I went to a dealer to look into them he steered me towards B&W (and that's where I am now), and by all means you can't go wrong with a pair of 600 series floorstanders and some smaller bookshelf surrounds from the same series...some are picky about what receiver they will pair with their speakers, I changed my Onkyo to the Marantz when I ended up with B&Ws (but what I wouldn't give for one of Rotel's new offerings...).

At that price I would also stick with prerich's decision of a MartinLogan sub...I can't say enough good things about the Dynamo! Perhaps SVS Cylinder subs might hold more appeal to you...but you can't go wrong (although it is harder to listen to internet brand's subs and compare to others unless they were to all have Axiom's policy). It's at least a few months of research you're looking at, mister!

Definitive Technology Mythos speakers are awesome. You can buy them from Amazon.

You can buy Martin Logans for your three fronts and something cheaper for the surrounds and back. Recently, Amazon started selling Martin Logans. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw...ogan&x=16&y=20

Hsu Research has excellent package deals. Their top-of-the-line package deal is Ultra1. You get 7 speakers and their ULS-15 (15") subwoofer factory direct from $2,200 to $2,600 , depending on finish. Normally the subwoofer alone sells for $1,400. Hsu subwoofers are world famous.
