Probably a nob question, oh well

Ok I have what would be considered a very noob question. Say your building your home theater system you have a good receiver your happy with (will be getting the onkyo TX_SR805 if you are wondering) How does one determine what kind of speakers to get. I know, I know you are all saying to your self well it depends on what your looking for power, size, name brands, etc. But what I want to know is what do you people look fro and how do you decide. So that way When I'm ready to buy my speakers I will know. Yes I know your all saying it all depends on what you want. Just want to know why you would say would be the best thing to look at.
