Default Confused about hooking up my subwoofer

Hey all, I have my receiver and speakers all hooked up and it sounds great but my subwoofer isn't hooked up. My receiver manual says to hook up the sub with a subwoofer cable, but my subwoofer doesn't have an input for subwoofer cable. It has a connection for an RCA cable. If I use and RCA cable where do i plug it into my receiver? btw my speaker set is polk rm6750 and my receiver is a yamaha 6160. Could someone circle on the picture below where I hook it up? Thanks.

usually the Left 'Line in' is the default input. You can also use a Y splitter if you want to, but its not usually necessary.

Is that the red and white rca port circled below or the black ports beside it? Because my manual is saying to plug it into the black ports but rca cables should match up with colours on the receiver correct?

no, use the black ports, one rca cable from the black sub 1 to the red rca on the sub, or use a y spliter to connect to both the white and red.

ok cool so if I don't use the y splitter then I just use the red cable and the yellow one I don't use?

I probably won't use a y splitter, but what are the advantages to it and are they expensive?

In most cases it wont make a difference. But if it bothers you they are pretty cheap. And yes just use the red cable.

Sorry guys, I'm confused again. Do I get one y splitter and an rca cable? I'm seeing 2male/1 female splitters and 2female/1male splitters.

You need a Y splitter and a rca cable or sub cable depend on what you want to spend.

you don't need a Y splitter. One RCA cable is all you need.

...and you definitely don't need a 35ft cable...unless your sub is 35 feet away??

oh, I wasn't knockin the suggestion. But I noticed he said he was gonna buy that particular cable which is 35ft of overkill and was just trying to catch him before he made any purchase...I know you were only helping him out.

Now if you had recommended a $300 24kt. gold plated, diamond encrusted, platinum shielded, Titanium tipped subwoofer cable, then we'd have some problems.

I used an RCA cable and went to Home Depot and picked up two adapters that screwed on to each end of the cable. One end of the adapters attached on to the cable and the other end pluged into my sub and the receiver. It was easy.
