Default New setup question

Hi all,
Just purchase a Polk RM6750B speaker set. Can't wait to get it and get it setup. Anyone have a movie suggestion to put it through it's paces?
Let me know.
Thanks.

Make sure you get speaker cable and an RCA cable for the sub. Enjoy!

I have all that with my existing system. Just need to switch out old speakers for the new ones and calibrate when I get them. I think it is going to sound way better than what I have been using.

I own the same speaker package; break them in and the sound is pure sex!

As for Blu-Rays that sound incredible:
  • Cloverfield
  • Live Free or Die Hard
  • Transformers

Enjoy!

I feel like I made the right choice hearing you say that. Now, I really can't wait. Great movie choices too.

I recommend either Underworld movie, the Patriot, Black Hawk Down, either Dave Matthews or NIN, and any Pirates movie.

Another vote for Transformers here. And, even though it's an older movie, The Rock has a great audio track.

You all have me frothing while I wait for these speakers. I'm going to be rewatching a lot of movies.

I have one more question. When I set these speakers up can I run a splitter and run another sub woofer on the other side of the room? Would it be too much? Would it work? What are your thoughts?

I would also like to know this, because the subwoofer that comes with the speaker system is on the weaker side.

congrats on the new speaker set. i recently just bought the exact same set and am loving them!

have you considered hooking up the sub using "option #2" in the polk manual? basically running the front speaker outs from your receiver into the inputs on the sub, and running the outs on the sub back to your front speakers. then finally setting the fronts to "large" in your receiver set up and setting the sub to "no." that's what i did and have gotten pretty good results.

on a side note-boschrock-i see we have the exact same set up. are you using the sub output on your str-dg720 w/ the polk sub?

You could, but it's best to buy the same subs for optimal results. Getting a larger, better sub is normally the best choice, unless you have a very large room and want more.

That's a great idea. When they arrive I will try that. Can you then run another sub normally(having 2 subs)? I just want to try it and see if it's worth it. When you say set the sub to "no" is that on the sub or the receiver? Thanks.

Well I think my Sony12" powered sub is probably better than the Polk sub I'm getting in that set. I could be wrong. I may just try each sub with the new speakers to see which is better.

Yeah, you could do that. You could also sell both of your subs and get an eD A2-300 sub which would be even better. Just a thought.

Yes, I am. It's not a bad subwoofer by any means, but it feels a little soft for my needs.

I highly doubt you're wrong.

I'm fairly confident I'll be buying that subwoofer. Every time I see a thread about subwoofers, that one is frequently recommended by users... or that might just be you in every thread.
