720p 25fps - Blu-ray Forum

Can an american plasma tv display 720p 25fps? For HD does pal and ntsc still exists? I have an x264 file that I used tsmuxer to convert to bluray format and burned to dvd. I only get audio and no picture. Do I need to convert this and, if so, how easy will it be to do? Thank you for any help.

I'd guess it's a USA TV limitation. I'm guessing if you convert it to a normal USA frame rate like 30 (or 29.97?) fps it might be able to display it. Just guessing though.

EDIT: PAL is 576 on-screen lines interlaced at 50hz
NTSC is 480 on screen lines interlaced at 60hz

On broadcast TV in Europe, HD isn't called PAL but will be based on 50hz (eg. 1080i50) - but we don't have OTA HD in the UK yet - only satellite. In the USA it will usually be at 60hz.

Most Blu-ray discs are encoded at 24p though a few are at 1080i50 or 1080i60 or have 50 or 60hz bonus content.

1080i camcorders still have "PAL" or "NTSC" printed on the box.

Though they're technically incorrect if they're referring to HD recording and not to SD outputs connections (as PAL and NTSC are SD only formats). They're probably using PAL/NTSC to refer to 50 or 60hz TV systems even though it's HD.
