Default 720p or 1080i on a 50 Inch native 720p HDTV

Hi, i got a samsung dlp 720p 50" HDTV and was just wondering/debating whether or not to set it at 720p entirely and not use 1080i on my ps3 display settings. Im assuming for a 50" screen a 1080i picture would be better than 720p. any suggestions will be helpful.

Since your set is 720p, it will always display 720p, no matter what you send it. The question is whether the set, or your PS3 scales the 1080 content to 720p. I would switch resolutions back and forth on the PS3 and see which works better, either with a test disc, or to your eyes...

interesting, then how come when playing blu ray's i push on my remote the display button and it shows up on the top left of the screen 1080i? So its not actually displaying in 1080 but running 720p?

It's showing the resolution of the incoming signal...when you switch to 720p, and hit "display", it will read 720p...

I would strongly recommend setting at 1080i. Especially for Blu-Ray movies.
