Default Samsung BD-P2550 Specs and info

(I posted this in the wrong thread - sorry)

I have the manual for this model - but can't seem to post it. if anyone could tell me how to "get it up" I'll gladly do so.

I've heard from a reliable source that this will both decode and bitstream DTS HR and MA out of the box though. I did watch some of Harts War this morning and the picture was incredible! The disc contains DTS-MA so if I get a chance to test it, i'll let you know.

Here are the specs from the manual.

The manual is already posted in PDF form in several places, a simple Google search will turn it up. Also, if you read the manual, it clearly states that you can only get DTS HD and DTS MA via bitstream to a receiver that has the capability of decoding those formats. The player will not decode DTS HD or DTS MA internally, only Dolby TrueHD. This is also stated on Samsung's own website. While Samsung has stated that they intend to make the player 2.0 capable via a firmware upgrade in the future they have made no promises about DTS internal decoding capability. Given their history with players such as the 1200, I would not make the assumption that this capability is forthcoming. If you have to have that feature you are better off getting a unit that provides it already, like the Sony BDP 550.

Why is there no info for the Samsung BD-P2550 on the Samsung website. I love Samsung's LCD TV's but they need to kick it up a notch on the blu-ray players. And what is with the players not having a pull off protetive film on the front of that smooth black glossy front of the player. Hello can we say scratched???

Yeah, that's odd they pulled the info for it of the site. I was just there a couple of days ago and it was there. Maybe they're coming out with a FW update and just updating the site.

I have mine set to bitstream everything into the Onkyo and it sounds great.

could the fact that it's not 2.0 capable affect playing certain BD-Live blu-rays (example transformers, iron man)? i lend these movies to a friend and they wouldn't play. screen stayed black now she's considering getting a ps3 and getting rid of the sammy.
