No DTS-HD Sound on Die Hard 2! - Blu-ray Forum

I bought the Die Hard set this week and sat down to watch Die Hard 2 last night with my wife. No sound when I chose the DTS-HD option! The other sound tracks were fine. I popped in the other 3 Die Hards and they all played fine on DTS-HD.

Anyone know of any problems with this disc in particular?

Am I going to need to return it to Amazon?

I think its a known problem with it. If you search for threads you'll find this issue as being well-discussed. I once said it was awesome and someone said "obviously you don't have hd-audio" lol.

I did do a search but couldn't come up with anything. It screens out the word "die", so then I get a whole pile of stuff with "hard" "dts" and "problem" in it.

I had found some information about this issue somewhere on the site, but can't find it right now. I sent an email to Fox and they responded to my email stating that they would place me on a list for a replacement disc when it's ready.

I have attached a copy of the email I sent to Fox explaing briefly the problem and below that is the response I received from Fox lacing me on the replacement disc list. Send your email to Fox at support@foxhome.com

Now when to expect the disc is another matter...

Dear Fox,

I am writing regarding the Die Hard 2 replacement Blu-ray disc offer that had the problem with the DTS HD MA soundtrack, (currently without any audio) Please let me know what I need to do to initiate the replacement process. My information is below: (Supplied my mailing information)

Response from Fox:

Hi John,

In regards the Die Hard replacement blu-ray, Fox is still looking into the matter in regards the DTS-HD MA audio. We have no date when this will be resolved. I will place your name on the replacement list.

Thank you and Sorry for the delay on this matter.

It seems to be from bitstreaming, so if you player is capable you may want to try sending it via LPCM.

I got a replacement disc from Fox but it still had the same issue. It's not fixed currently.

aramis109 is correct. It works find coming from the PS3 because it sends it out LPCM.

I think this is a receiver issue too as Die Hard 2 DTS-MA soundtrack works fine bitstreamed from my BD50 to a Sony DG820 receiver.
