Question Crossover + EQ Question

I have a Yamaha RX-V663. YPAO set the crossover at 160Hz. I know this is because my rear speakers are small (3" woofer, 3/4" tweeter).
I was wondering if I could set the crossover at 120Hz to get a bit more from my fronts and center, while setting the EQ at 120HZ for the rears at -2dB for example. Is that possible or I should just leave it as is?

Thanks

If the crossover is set too high, your subwoofer will become too directional and will probably distort the sound. Normally, you shouldn't set the crossover above 100Hz. How are your other speakers? If you want, you can set the crossover to 120Hz. Make sure you don't raise the volume too much as you may roast your speakers. You can buy much better rear speakers under $100 a pair.

It is also helpful to read A Guide to Subwoofers. There is a section on crossover setting toward the middle.

My fronts are JBL E90s (36Hz-20KHz, 110W, 8ohm), center is JBL EC25 (80Hz-20KHz, 75W, 8ohm).
Rears (and surrounds) are Jamo A102s (150Hz-20KHz, 60W, 6ohm).
Sub is Jamo SUB200 (36Hz-150Hz, 200W). It has its own low-pass filter which I set to 100Hz.

I know the best solution is upgrading the rear and surround Jamos. But I am still researching to get best speakers for the job.

I want to get the most mid-range from my fronts and center with what I have now.
So do you think the lower crossover and EQ trick will work? Is -2dB enough at 160Hz? Can I set the crossover even lower with my setup without damaging the rears?
BTW, the rears' level is at -3dB.
