Default Thinking about buying...

I'm thinking about getting a PS3 for a Blu-Ray player. I was wondering how it would look on my 720p/1080i 42" Panasonic px77u plasma compared to another 1080p set. I want a 1080p set, but I need to save up a bit for one. How would it look on my current set?

I have a 37" Aquos that is 720p/1080i and it's AMAZING..... for a 42" set, if you're sitting 10 feet away or so, you won't be able to tell the difference between 1080p and 720p..... Don't let your t.v. stop you from buying a blu-ray player.... he difference is NIGHT AND DAY..... believe me.

blu-rays look much better than any HD broadcast source (cable or dish). the fast moving scenes seem to have pixelation on dish or cable but on blu they are crisp and clear

If I could get the detail on my set close to this when I buy my player, I would be extatic, also the color is very nice on this screenshot.. I'm drooling.

What about detail quality like seeing pores on peoples faces?

Any opinions or advice? I'm just wondering if I should buy the PS3 first, or the new 1080p TV first, or just forget about the 1080p set, and keep my current plasma and just buy a PS3 for Blu-Ray.

I notice I never get that kind of detail with like HBO HD Channels, how big is the jump in Picture Quality from like HBO HD Via Dish, to Blu-Ray Via a PS3?

The TV I first had my blu-ray player hooked up to was 720p/1080i and it was still a very very good pic, get the PS3 first. I actually like the 720P picture a little better then the 1080i, if that helps when you set up, but decide what you like personally.

How much noticeable would a 1080p Set vs the TV I have now be?

All I want is to acheive a Picture Quality like the Screenshot I posted above. If I do, I will be exstatic, and not need a new TV.

Honestly that is hard to say, I was going from a Vizio to a Samsung, and the difference was immense. If you are going from a panasonic plasma to a panasonic plasma, it may not be as big of a jump, but I would say you will see some amount of difference.

Go to a home theatre store (not BB or CC) and see their set up and see if you notice a difference and how big you think it is.
