Anyone who needs a laugh listen to this - Blu-ray Forum

Just got back from Blockbuster (renting Cars for my cousin) and the guy in front of me asks the blockbuster guy how much is blu ray? the guy responds you can either buy a ps3 80GB for $299 or buy a standalone starting at $750. He said i would get the ps3 but the only problem is it does not play standard dvds. At this point i am trying to not die from laughter and goes on saying how I would hold of on buying one because of a format war between blu ray and high definition player. Thought i would share my experience with you guys and hope you get a laugh

Unbelievable..i get this all the time at my local store who always seem to have the never changing same ole blu-ray discs in stock, anytime i go to the counter the person is like "you do know this is blu-ray right?" and i feel like saying "you do know the format war is over and its time you start getting more blu-rays in stock than that ancient pile you already have"

You should have step in and said something.

My friend did that in a store once with a bone head clerk giving a bunch of bull to a customer. If you are selling something, know what you are selling and dont bullsh@t the customer, not everyone is tech savy and they rely on you at the store to give them the info.

Over exaggerated laughter to grab attention. Then when clerk and patron look, I set the record straight. I then tell him where to find cheap blu-ray players.

I would also tell him about Netflix because it is apparent that blockbuster employs people with IQs equal to that of a granite slab.

I get this at my BlockBuster all the time"you know this is Blu-ray right"...from the same person all the time.

CC, in the least you could have blurted out "The format war is over". That would have helped the customer. On the other hand, when I worked for R.S. I have seen the most knowledgeable sales people give b.s. answers and send people on their merry way.

Our Manager in Training "Q" told a guy looking for a mini-dv to VHS adaptor to try China Town because they have everything there. Mind you, no such thing exisits. Because of the similar size tapes people were always confusing Mini DV with VHS-C. I asked him why he told the guy that and let him leave thinking China Town would have one. He stated something to effect that the guy would have argued the point that it DOES exist and give him a problem. He just told him what he wanted to hear to get him out of the store.

Some sales people are really pieces of work. There was one guy who was always trying to make me look stupid "to see what I would do". At least one time I had to tell him off for his sociopathic behavior. When I ask for help it is because I need information to help a customer. Getting your kicks off fellow employees in need of help just shows the type of scum you find in the sales force. If they can't make the sale, they will sabotage yours.
