Default Opinions on first projector setup and placement

My wife and I have been tossing around the idea of getting a projector and hanging a screen from our ceiling that will pull down in front of our tv (Panasonic 52" RP). The projector will be used 90% of the time for movies in the evening after it is dark and the rest of the time for sporting events. We would get heavy vertical blinds to help deal with any ambient light issues.

I have been looking into the Epson 6100 which seems like a good choice for us given it's relatively low price and high light output. Can someone recomend a screen size that would work at a throw distance of around 16 feet? Well were on the subject of screens, I really don't know much about what colour material or gain would be appropriate, or whether a motorized screen is worth the extra expense.

We were originally looking into getting a 65" Sharp Aquos, but as the majority of our TV watching is movies, we figured we could go big for about the same price.

(in the image attached below, the green hatched area is our neighbors condo and the large picture window faces east)
