Ive been busy lately with work & family.
I have finally beaten ratchet & clank...resistance...uncharted...got halfway thru gta 4...beat most the tracks on motorstorm...beat most the races on burnout paradise...got part ways thru metal gear 4...played some gh3...and started my franchise with madden 09. Well im looking to get into either cod 4 or warhawk...i play resistance online from time to time and its fun...plus it connect quick and easy....Like the best server ive played on. But if you had to pick which game to purchase now which would you go for. are there still alot of people online on these games still? I beat cod 4 on veteran on xbox 360 but never played online Any suggests or info is appreciated thanks |

currently own cod4 and used to own warhawk but sold it
you know it really depends. in warhawk you can use tanks, planes, jeeps etc to get around the maps, the view is in 3rd person and there is a steep learning curve. you will be killed almost immediately all the time until you get the hang of it.there is also no 1 player campaign! only online play COD4 is First person, graphics and sound are out of this world. The maps are large and varied. The amount of weapons is vast but there are no vehicles to drive. If you want a game you can just pick up have a blast then put it back down then COD4 is the one for you. Great 1 player story and one of the best online games ever. if you want a game that will really challenge you, that you will have to put a lot of effort into then warhawk is the one for you. either way both games are great though! |

I would say get Warhawk, even though both are good games. It just seems that CoD is on the verge of being replaced, whether by CoD: WaW, or the next Infinity Ward game, or any other game that follows a pretty standard FPS formula.
Warhawk, on the other hand, is unlike any other game I can think of, and I don't think anything is coming out any time soon to replace it. Both have nice ranking systems, if you like to keep track of stats, but I think Warhawk's is deeper, and is pretty fascinating in regard to exactly how much it tracks for you (even with little graphs to show you certain ratios over time). In terms of the online play (which is important, since that's all Warhawk has) I think Warhawk will have a longer following, because the CoD crowd seems like they can easily move on to the next great FPS. I imagine Resistance 2 will take more people away from CoD than Warhawk, but who knows. Last edited by toef; 09-24-2008 at 01:26 AM. |

COD4!!! I love the online play so much that i'm itching to get back into it, but at the moment I'm trying to upgrade my online character in GTA4 (TOO much money!). I'm on Level 50 on COD4, that's why I took a break. I hope that when COD5 comes out, a lot of people will still be playing COD4 since after all it is MODERN warfare!

One of my bigger questions is. Are the online for both of these games smooth like resistance.. And Would it be too late to grab either of these since they have been out a while. I am almost the highest rank in resistance right now and wouldnt want to just start it but it is older than cod 4 and warhawk.
I like cod4 because its something i can pick up and play when i want...Warhawk almost seems like something that will get addicting and make me pissed off. But warhawk is a ps3 exclusive and i like that. ...........Still undecided...... Need something to hold me off until resistance 2...motorstorm 2...saints row 2... |

I will put it like this. Warhawk is the best game I have played. EVER. (I assume many people do not agree, that is why I said "I").
But, Warhawk is dying, and dying quickly. The ranked servers are almost impossible to play now, as one team is CRUSHING the other (regardless of the side you are on, it is not fun). The game has lost a LOT of the ability to have even games over the last several patches. The other option is Player ranked games (hosted by players, not Sony). I normally use those. Now the REAL problem... Games are hard to find. Normally there are around 300-500 rooms total. With three map packs, and 6 modes (CTF, Zones etc) finding the game you want to play can be a real head ache. Bottom line, though, it is still the game I play most, and Jet-packs are FREAKING AWESOME. I have about 300 hours of ranked play, and well over 1500 hours of split-screen/unranked/ranked play. Warhawk is a unique game, while, IMO, COD4 is the best of a plethera of FPS. Quote:

If you read what folks are saying - basically, both games are great.
I think the only major differences are - COD4 is First Person Warhawk is Third Person However, I think COD4 has a lot of like games coming out (COD5, Resistance 2) that could easily fill that slot. Warhawk has a lot more options within the gameplay - which automatically means a steeper learning curve (lots of weapons and vehicles to master - not to mention, flying alone is almost entire game by itself). I think either way, you'll be happy with the game you pick. |
