Hello PPL!!
I bought a bluray burner not long ago, I was pretty excited being able to burn BD and being able to whatch BD movies if I wanted. I finally decided to get one and now the only thing that I get is a messages that says: NOT SUPPORTED MEDIA. That is soo frustrating, I used PowerDVD 7.3 that came with the LG burner, I also downloaded PowerDVD 9, WinDVD 10 Pro, all with the same result. I can access the disc's folders and I'm assuming that the movies files are the m2ts because of some googling around that I did to solve the issue. What do you guys think is the problem? I tried in both win vista Ultimate 64 and Win 7 Ultimate 64. My hardware seems to be fine because I scanned it with cyberlink Advisor, this is the log: " Processor : AMD Phenom(tm) 9850 Quad-Core Processor Unknown More Info __dwItemID=1001__ : szLibCPUName = AMD Phenom(tm) 9850 Quad-Core Processor __dwItemID=1002__ : dwLibClockRate = 2499 __dwItemID=1003__ : dwLibFamily = 15, dwLibModel=2, dwLibStepping=3 __dwItemID=1004__ : dwLibNumPhysicalProc = 4, dwLibNumCorePerPackage=1, dwLibNumLogicalPerCore=1 __dwItemID=1005__ : dwLibCorePerPackage = 4, dwLibTotalLogicals=4 __dwItemID=1006__ : szWMIName=AMD Phenom(tm) 9850 Quad-Core Processor __dwItemID=1007__ : szWMIManufacturer=AuthenticAMD __dwItemID=1008__ : dwWMIMaxClockSpeed=2500 __dwItemID=1009__ : bBatteryExist=0 __dwItemID=1010__ : szGuess= System Memory : 4096 MB Yes Operating System : No More Info Graphics Card : NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ Unknown More Info __dwItemID=1301__ : Adapter Compatibility: NVIDIA __dwItemID=1302__ : VideoProcessor: GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ Graphics card video memory : 512 MB Graphics Card Driver : 8.16.11.9107 No More Info __dwItemID=1501__ : 2D Driver=8.16.11.9107 __dwItemID=1502__ : COPP=Yes __dwItemID=1503__ : RGBOverlay=No __dwItemID=1504__ : DEVICE=N/A __dwItemID=1601__ : Driver 0: __dwItemID=1602__ : [D:] HL-DT-ST BD-RE GGW-H20L __dwItemID=1603__ : eHCMDrvType=0x01ac6fc7 __dwItemID=1604__ : CDRom=1 DVDRom=1 BDRom=1 HDDVDRom=1 Blu-ray Disc Drive : [D:] HL-DT-ST BD-RE GGW-H20L Yes Software Player : PowerDVD 7.3.5711.0 Yes Video Connection Type : Digital(with HDCP) Yes Program version : 1.0.1801.0 System language : 0409 ENU English English Time : Sat Oct 31 15:35:45 2009 Computer : Desktop System Name : MANU-PC" The memory is not accurate I have 6GB. The vudeo drivers are up to date, after I installed the drivers from CD WIN 7 downloaded an update for it. This is the log from BD advisor that I ran from WIN 7 Ultimate. In Vista did the same thing. Please HELP!! Manu |

Are you getting that message trying to watch a legit blu-ray? powerdvd doesn't like playing pirated stuff.

[delete]... I was suggesting a possible HDCP problem, but I see from your log that you have a compliant system... Not supported media is weird... Is this the only Blu-ray you've tried? Last edited by Rik1138; 11-01-2009 at 02:15 AM. |

Hmm, that's strange. I thought PowerDVD 8.0 Ultra was the first edition that played blu-ray. That's what I have.

Installed powerdvd 9 on win 7, and says: "There is a disc with an unsupported format in drive d:" Puzzled...
I'm converting the .m2ts files to an mpeg4 codec, now I can open the single files with VLC and watch them, the quality is inferior to the DVD because is compressing the 40+ GB down to a 25GB and I do not like it, plus the process takes up to 5 HOURS!! Did you guys have all this hassle when you installed BD on the computer???? Last edited by Manupug; 11-02-2009 at 01:42 AM. |

So if my Monitor is not HD capable the BD player is not going to start? I copied the movie on my HDD and the movie player is not opening the movie folder. As soon as I get the DVI cable to connect the projector I'll post the results, even if I'm not convinced that the wrong output freezes the player. I believe that in that case the monitor should either start flicking like a crazy or shut off. When I tried to set up the monitor to a full HD resolution and the monitor popped a message that the signal was out of range and I needed to restore the native resolution witch is 1680x1050. I can set the monitor for a 720p resolution and that works fine. I'm still puzzled!! |

I installed anydvd HD and now if I drag the folder of the movie "stream" I'm finally able to watch the frigging movie in HD!!
Still puzzled, even more. I'm disappointed because I can only watch the movie without a menu and the extra stuff that the Bluray has. Too bad!! Thanks guys for your support. Manu |

Ah, I would have been ahead of all of you if I would have paid attention to this thread. Many people I know personally are having problems with Windows 7 and Vista when it comes to certain software. Man, I am still using XP and I have not had one single issue with PowerDVD 7.3 or Acrsoft TMT 3Platinum with not one single Blu-ray or HD-DVD disc. All of mine play. Please look for all of my posts on here and I went through a great deal to explain the exact patch you need with PowerDVD 7.3 and it usually does ship with the LG drives. That's unless the blu-ray burners have been shipped with the latest PowerDVD. Many of my friends and I have tested all of the PowerDVD version from the 7.3 Suite and we tested them on XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Guess what happened. The one software that worked on all of the OS's were Arcsoft TMT 3 Platinum. As far as the PowerdDVD is concerned. Oh boy, we tested 7.3 and it had no problems with XP. We ran into problems on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista and Windows 7. Man, I don't know why, but I'm still going to continue to work with XP because it still is a pretty good OS. Vista was rushed like Windows ME. And Micromoney finally got it somewhat right with Windows 7. Hah....Well not quite. My friend is having all types of nightmares with Windows 7 on a fresh and clean install. Lastly, oh yeah..., I'm a geek. Micromoney will eventually do what they always do. Service pack 1 will be out in about half a year or less. Then, shortly thereafter, Service Pack 2 will be out, then a third one until another touch screen OS will be created. Peace....
