Sony BDP-S350 Audio Questions

Hi this is my first post, and Ive read TONS about the above blue ray player and am more confused than I was. I have had a Yamaha DVD player and a Yamaha reciever (HTR-5250) for about 5 years. Well I want to get into Blu-ray, but I want to know if I have to buy a new reciever. Mine doesnt have HDMI inputs. I currently run optical out of the dvd player to the reciever. So I guess my questions are, 1 - Does the Sony BDP-S350 Audio output Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS that my reciever will understand? Here is a link to my reciever. Thanks I really appreciate it.

Yes, the S350 outputs DD and DTS bitstreams that will work over optical with your receiver. In fact, the DD and DTS tracks are usually encoded at higher bitrates on BD than you get on DVD. So, they will likely sound better.

But, you will not get high res lossless audio with the S350 and your receiver. You need HDMI for lossless with the S350. If you get the S550 instead, you can have the player decode the TrueHD and dts-MA lossless tracks and send them to your AVR over its multichannel analog outputs. (Actually, it's not clear that the S550 will have dts-MA decoding. But, it will definitely do lossless TrueHD and 5.1 PCM.)

Awesome, thanks for the reply. Does the BDP-S350 have optical or coax audio outputs? This is what I see in the description, so Im not sure. I called Best Buy and couldnt get an answer. Thanks again.
