Default Speaker wire for Sony STR-DG720

I just purchased this receiver yesterday and was wondering about speaker wire. Will 16 AWG work for this receiver? Also should I use pin connectors for the wires? I'm a newbie so any advice would be extremely helpful!

first it depends on how long your runs are going to be and if your going in wall or not. generally for shorter runs, 14-16 is good, and bare wire or banana plugs are good. for in wall you need inwall rated wire.

Its a small room so the runs will be short. No inwall runs. The receiver has spring clips so I should use bare wire correct?

Yeah bare wire is fine, and 16 should be fine also, that is what I am currently using. Hurray for monoprice.com. Great speaker wire cheap.
