Default DTS-HD Audio on Eragon Problem

I am hearing very large pop noises at certain points in the movie. One is when the dragon is flying for the first time and growing in size.

I have a PS3 for a blu ray player and a Denon 1909 Receiver. If I turn the volume to -35.5 or less it does not pop but soon as I hit -35.0 it pops when playing this..

If I switch the audio track to the Dolby 5.1 there is no pop at all no matter how loud the volume. Only happens with DTS-HD track.

None of my other DTS-HD movies seem to have any pop sounds, just Eragon that I have found so far. I have also not heard any pops on any other blu ray's in my collection. I of course have PCM output from PS3 so it is doing the decoding.

Anyone had this same/similar problem or have any advice?

The DTS "bomb" as they call it doesnt apply here, it was only for bitstreaming audio I believe, on top of that he's using the PS3 as a player and it can't bitstream DTS-HD.

Perhaps your receiver is clipping?

You are correct. Sorry, didn't see a PS3 was doing the decoding.

I had this problem and it was improperly secured cables. Make sure they are not touching the amp...

I found that the Dynamic EQ option on the Denon 1909 is the cause of it.. it sounds great with most sound tracks but a few mess up completely with Dynamic EQ on.

Iron Man and Eragon are the only 2 so far that I have found but just turning off the Dynamic EQ fixes the issue completely and they sound awesome.

So Dyanamic EQ can't be used for all movies.
