Default Magnavox Playback issues?

Hey people..

I'm brand new to Blu-ray and picked up the Magnavox
NB500MG9 player and rented a couple of BD movies.

The sound and picture turned out great. I rented Rattatouille (i'm not going spell that right today) and Gone Baby Gone. During playback at 1080p (using HDMI cable) part way through the movies, the whole picture flashed black for a split second then displayed full picture again and continued playing. No slowdown. Gone Baby Gone did it twice - Rat did it once but then also got stuck on one scene and then skipped right on to the next. (I think there was a fingerprint on that one). These "flashes" are concerning and I'm wondering if this is a normal thing. I'm going to rent Iron Man tomorrow and see what happens. I should be the first person to play that copy of the movie so I'm hoping the playback has no hiccups.

DVD playback is flawless so far so that's a good sign.

When playing a DVD full length movie on my current DVD player, there is always one part of every movie that pauses for just a split second..like it's loading. Most movies have tried to hide it by having it inbetween scenes so I'm wondering if this Blu-Ray flash-of-black is the same thing? Please Answer! Thanks!!
