Saw it yesterday morning. LaBeouf is loose! That's okay, you don't have to laugh. But it's a pretty decent thriller.
The basic premise of the story is contained in the trailer. If you've not seen the trailer and go in cold, the better. I don't want to repeat the premise because I don't want to ruin it for you but here's the important thing: DO NOT MISS THE FIRST 10 MINUTES OF THE MOVIE. The reason will be clear when you get to the film's Act 3. In itself, the film borrows/steals major elements from other movies before as a basis of its story. However, those elements did not work so well creating fear out of you because it was not relatable to what we have today. In Eagle Eye, it works almost perfectly because it fits tightly. Believability is stretched a bit but it's not too far off. Based on a story by Dan McDermott, with John Glenn, Travis Wright and Hillary Seitz as co-writers (four writers total), this is an example of drama and action are combined well. Thankfully DJ Caruso knows his story arcs and character development. The cast is top notch. Great acting from everyone particularly Shia LaBeouf as Jerry Shaw and Bridget Moynahan as Rachel Holloman. Rosario Dawson, Michael Chiklis, Ethan Embry and Billy Bob Thornton are great as supporting casts. LaBeouf is on a roll and so is DJ! Cinematrography, editing, SFX and VFX, and sound design are brilliant. It captures the mood so well. These guys and gals did an amazing job. Eagle Eye is on a lower scale of MUST WATCH but it does qualify. And it'll be a fantastic BD when it comes out this December. fuad |

Just saw Eagle Eye today. Possibly the best movie of the post-summer movie season (at least until "007: Quantum of Solace" comes out)!! Action-packed from start to finish! Shia LaBeouf continues to impress me with his performances, and his performance in Eagle Eye was no exception! Michelle Monaghan was hot in this movie, period! In fact, I think I liked Michelle in this one a lot more than her performance in Mission: Impossible III! Billy Bob Thornton did a pretty great job with his role of an FBI agent. You'll probably find yourself laughing at a few of Billy Bob's lines throughout the movie. There are even some great performances from Rosario Dawson, Michael Chiklis, and Ethan Embry as well. For anyone that wants to get away from the house for the next two hours, then you will not be disappointed with Eagle Eye at the very least!

it seems like a while, since i have seen a movie trailer, and said "I definitely need to watch this movie." I did say it about Eagle Eye, and will watch it tomorrow.

I enjoyed it. I would rate it about 7.5. Not great, but not a bad theater experience. My wife hated it and thought it was painfully slow, I disagree, the pace was fairly good, but did grind a bit at times. I did think a couple of parts kinda were hard to get past on suspending belief but I managed to get past that.

It's now officially one of the worst-reviewed films of the year.

Low reviews didn't stop me from seeing it, and I'm glad I did. Kept me guessing 'til the end. It was a fun movie to sit through. 7.5/10.. as someone said, though, the whole time, I was sitting there thinking "Man, I can't wait to see this scene on Blu-Ray".

The ratings are valid because the critics' has the right to their opinions. But that doesn't mean that the films they love is the film that you or an average Jane/Joe would love. Of course, I'm one of those critics.
According to RottenTomatoes, Disturbia was 68% fresh. I thought it was 6.5/10 and certainly no Rear Window. I stand by my review and I'm not holding a gun to anybody's head to make them watch any movie I thought was good. All I can do is encourage or nag. ![]() fuad |
