Default PC Blu-ray drive region coding?

I haven't found any threads on this, so started this one.

If I buy a Blu-ray drive for my computer, is there an option to change the region code?
You can do so with DVD-Roms.

And if so, is there a certain number of times I can do this.

Again with DVD-Roms I believe it's 4 or 5 times, then it will get stuck in the region last used.

Thinking about buying a drive and would love to set it to Region B.

Also what is the best program out at the moment to play BD on your PC?

The Blu-ray region is set in the playback software, not the drive.

5 times, but reinstalling the software resets it.

Best is arguable... I prefer ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre.

Thanks so much dadkins!

I guess I will be getting a drive and place an order for some Region B releases then...

Depending on the individual software, there also some easy tweaks for the region coding so you don't need to reinstall the sw after five changes. Usually searching the net reveals them.

(btw it's not some sort of a hacked software. you just need to find out where your legally bought sw stores the number of changes and how to reset it or better yet, increase the number of possible changes. It's usually quite easy and you don't have to install anything 'fishy' )
