Default Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 vs FIFA Soccer 2009: Which will be better on PS3?

For those Football fans out there!

Now I know these aren't due out for a few weeks(FIFA 09) or month(Winning Eleven 2009)

We have also seen in PSM3 that PES 2009(PSM Score=88%) is prefered already over FIFA 2009(PSM Score=83%) this year.

I have seen people taking sides already, so I am curious who here is ready to pick one and say why

For me the Champions League is making me have second thoughts about buying FIFA 09 over PES 2009, but thats just me

They have exclusive rights to the Champions League this year:

Release date: November 11, 2008

Focused on improving gameplay:

Release date: October 14, 2008

pro evo, just like every year. Even if Fifa is catching up somewhat , still doesn't come close to PES. The day Konami finally realizes that they need to boost the graphics will be the day FIFA dies.

I love PES2008 but the graphics are barely above PS2 levels.. Animations are very good. They also need to fix replay's as well as the rare slow down/stuttering when all the players are at one end like a corner.

I'm very curious to what the differences will feel like in gameplay.. I don't care about roster updates or anything like that as I make my own team and play.

I wasn't too impressed with the FIFA demo, though I do like the idea of 10-10 battles where you hold a position for the entire game. Regardless, I just wish the graphics in soccer would catch up to Madden standards...

10 on 10 could be awesom for some crazy games. I bet the odds of it being played like a "real" soccer game are about .1% but I'm sure it would be fun as hell with the right crew

Even if FIFA is somewhat catching up, PES remains the only soccer simulation while FIFA is purely based on good graphics and alot of sponsors. EA is money only, they always have been.

P.S. Funny thing about the FIFA demo were those red cards I got when the ref. blew his whistle for half time. It has happened to me 4 times now and I didn't even touch a button

it's an interesting idea but not sure how it would work. It works really well with NHL09 because the game is very fast and you can easily get to the puck, with soccer your not going to be running across the field hoping to get the ball, you should be playing your position and hoping your teammates are able to play just as well, if not it could be a very long game of keep away.

PES all the way!! I was thinking of buying FIFA to wait for PES, but I might just import PES from the UK at the end of the month for PC and completely skip FIFA, it's close, but not that close! plus all the customized patches gives you everything FIFA does and much more!!!

Has plenty of countries and teams, but not all are licensed meaning you probably won't have all the correct logos and such.

Fifa will be the way to go. I have always been a fan of fifa. PES last year sucked in a bad way! Fifa was not the best but was better by a country mile! I have been impressed with the improved animation and ball physics in fifa 09 demo!

With the depth of the game that fifa brings to the table, i see it being very hard to beat! especially as this year they are introducing be a pro mode in normal game play instead of just being an online feature! Not to mention the new manager mode! Fifa will get my vote again this year!

PES has better sort it out this year, I bought the previous version on PS3 and I ended up selling it after being so frustrated with the online mode.

Sure it's a new feature and all but it shouldn't have been released with so many bugs, better still they could have not included it and I would have made the effort to buy a few more controllers and get some real people over!!!

I love PES so much though I'll probably go halves with a friend on 07 or 08 on the PS2 and play that for a few months!!

out of the box no. but there is a website , i'll get the link later but basically you download the option files and basically someone has already changed all the names of the players, teams and even updated the jersey numbers. Takes 2 mins and it's awesome I heard it's really hard to get it to work on the xbox 360 b/c of the online functions but it couldn't be easier with the ps3.

Player comparison from PES 2008 to 2009.

I think the players look more 3D in FIFA and the graphics are generally better, but they have more photorealistic faces in PES.

There's a PES 2009 demo on the UK store now.

I wouldn't mind getting a hold of some of those option files

The UK udpate just went up and you have to pay to get the leagues on FIFA ... what the hell is that? 6euro / league or 18 bucks for the whole pack? ?!! Why wasn't this included in the full game.

I believe the website is http://www.pesgaming.com/ and you go in Files and in their you should be able to find the option files for 08. 09 should be out relatively soon after it's released.
