Default Box sets in your collection.

Hey all,
I was just wondering how you handle movie box sets in your collection. My collection count is 47 which includes the box sets ie: Bourne triology Xmen triology etc. that I have. My real count is actually higher though since when you add them to your collection they only count them as one. So I was just wondering if any of you put them in as individual movies to get a more accurate count or leave them be as the box set. I was thinking of maybe changing mine as individual.

I only have Band of Brothers and Planet Earth, so they can only count as one.

However, I just now, about 2 hours ago, ordered The Ultimate Bourne Collection from Amazon UK. I'll post those as individual titles. I know that might not be the proper thing to do, but posting a Boxset of 3 movies wouldn't accurately reflect my collection count.

Thanks John.
That is what I meant as far as box sets ie: Bourne triology etc. I would keep things like Planet Earth and other sets that are actually a set. I was meaning movie sets as you mentioned. I corrected my original post to reflect that as well.

I just put mine in as a the entire box set. Not individually. I probably should do them individually, but I don't. It's just easier...or maybe it's because I'm a little lazy with it. I've got a lot of box sets though...and I kind of don't feel like redoing it all.

I have the Xmen trilogy, Bourne trilogy, and Resident Evil trilogy. To answer your question, I put them in as singles (exception: Bourne because it only displays as the trilogy - but when they release the single titles next year I will change it to accurately reflect my collection).

Personally I'm not a fan of boxsets, but I got a great deal on The Ultimate Bourne Collection from amazon UK, so I sprung for it.

Well, on my actual shelf, I just recently removed the Rambo box from the movies (still debating that) but I have X-Men still i the box (with the individual movies showing). I've bought 2 3-pack movies and separate them individually. Bourne remains in the box on the shelf.

When I enter them into my collection on this site, I do them individually (for higher count).

I have an excel spreadsheet of my collection in which each movie is entered individually and in alphabetical order (I also list the director, rating, format, and my score).

I have at one time had the following Box Sets:
I Am Legend - 1 film
Planet of the Apes - 5 films (this thing is the most awesome box set ever!!)
Rambo Trilogy - 3 films
Rocky - 6 films
Dirty Harry - 5 films
Planet Earth - 1 "film"
POTC - 3 films
Resident Evil - 3 films

and that is how I count them in my collection

I keep my movie box sets together and only register them as one item on blu-ray.com. I have:

Bourne Trilogy
Star Trek box sets (original and TNG)
X-Men
Austin Powers
Planet of the Apes

I keep them on my shelves with the tv seasons of Lost, Man Men, etc.

I only have three sets currently- the 3 pack for Crouching Hidden, Flying Daggers and Golden Flower. I had thought about listing them seperately, although Crouching Tiger does not have an A single release (which is why I had to get the set).

But that trick won't work on my other ones... I got the classic and next gen movie sets for Star Trek... 10 movies that only count for two collection entries, and the only single releases were movies 2,4,6, and 8.

So I'm just leaving them as is. If anyone ever looks at my collection link, they will see what I have... and I am not trying to compete with others out there, especially since I am selective on what blu rays I want. Most of my movie and tv series collections will still remain on standard dvd/ vhs. As far as new releases go, I also won't by default get a new movie or series blu ray version, only the ones that I really like and think the HD visuals would be worth it.

Taking a look at how large some of the personal collections here are... I know I will never be in some of those leagues.

I used to maintain an Excel spreadsheet, but now I let DVD Aficionado count them as box sets, titles and discs:

My Video Collection

I store them without taking them out of their collection box.
