Default Vinyl Box Sets

In the last 6 months I've been on this kick to buy Vinyl LP Box Sets, which is something I've never really considered purchasing before in all of my close to 40-yrs of record-buying. I have no real idea as to why this interest in Box Sets started. Maybe it is just away of adding something different to my collection.

These are the box sets I've bought so far:

David Gilmour: Live In Gdansk
Eric Clapton: Complete Clapton
Led Zeppelin: Mothership
Pink Floyd: Echoes

I'd love to see more live box-sets, such as DG's Live in Gdansk, from different artists and I'm hoping that will happen one of these days. I know that the Police: Certifiable is available in a vinyl box set, but I have yet to find it.

Do any of you guys have box sets? Or does that packaged format not appeal to you?

John

Appeals to me, I just purchased the Metallica limited edition box set.

Just wish there was more sets of the type of music I listen too, heavy metal, hard rock, some death metal.

Although I must confess since my turntable purchase I have been enjoying other types of music, especially blues, blues/rock.

I have quite a few boxed sets. Some that come to mind:

AC/DC's complete collection
Queen's The Complete Works
Pink Floyd's Pulse
Bruce Springsteen live set
Beethoven's symphonies
Some of Bach's stuff
Gary Numan's Living Ornamants '79 and '80
Sheffield Labs' The Complete Moscow Sessions

Not sure if these two count. They're boxed sets, but contain only one album (on 3 discs in the case of Famouse Blue Raincoat):

Jennifer Warnes' Famous Blue Raincoat
Miles Davis Kind of Blue Collector's set

I almost forgot this one, which is now 35yrs old.

Jazz At The Santa Monica Civic '72

It was pressed in 1974 on Pablo Records and it's a 3-LP set.

And Rich....yeah, I think those count. The Miles Davis one is on my Acoustic Sounds wishlist.

Just an amazing version of The River on that set, my Dad has the vinyl...I think he might pass it over to me next time he's in Canada given that he no longer has a TT. He has Rolled Gold and Dylan's "Biography" too. Don't know if he'll part with the latter one though! He was at the show Dylan first played electric.

I have a few old vinyl "sets". One that comes to mind, and some may say it is not a box set (it came as a 3 LP set in a box) is George Harrison's All Things Must Pass. It is my favorite Post Beatle recordings of of the former band. I particularly like the first 2 albums, but am not as happy with the "Apple Jam" third album. I will have to find find out just how good my copy still is once I get my new Turntable Set-up since I have not listened to it in years.

The best vinyl box set that I have is the six-LP Complete Buddy Holly box that is long out-of-print and was never released on a digital format. I managed to score it for $25 at a local record store in extremely good condition.

Thanks db.......I'm going to try Sunrise Records on the way in to work later (it's our semi-annual inventory and I have to work till 1am tonight) and see if they can order it. If that doesn't work, I'll PM you for sure!
