Default Watchmen

I just picked up the graphic novel yesterday and have started reading it, I heard that a movie is being made by Zach Synder who did 300 (Know this is kinda old news) but does anyone know if there is a trailer or spoiler out there? I really want to see how its being made.

I have to admit that looks better than my wildest dreams about this project. I wonder what Dr. Manhattan will look like...

I've never read the Watchmen. Don't know anything about them, but I'm intrigued by the movie. Can anyone give me a quick rundown of who they are? background story?

Thanks!

Quick LXG-level summary of elaborate Alan Moore concept:
What if comic heroes had to live in the last few decades of REAL world history?
(And faced general problems, such as wars and aging, and professional problems, such as seeing the "masked detective" of the 30's put out of business by the "radioactive superhero" of the 50's?)

Or, to keep it on Blu topic: If you've seen "Justice League: New Frontier"...now you know where they stole the idea from.

What? You mean you guys have not seen those pix before?

I got them on my desktop for weeks already. High res of course.

I wanted to get the graphic novel but now that it's in production, I guess I'll wait until after I've seen the movie.

Simply the greatest comic book ever written and drawn. Alan Moore deconstructed the entire superhero genre and achieved things that had simply never been attempted in traditional comics. Everyone should own a copy of it that has ever read comics.

So it was a miniseries? Did it become an ongoing?

12 issue mini-series that has been collected into a trade paperback now. The story is self contained and has a definite ending...DC comics has never to my knowledge even thought about making a sequel as most writers simply wouldn't be up to the task and Alan Moore refuses to work for them anymore.

Watchmen is on of the greatest comic book stories ever written by Alan Moore.
If you want to read this book i suggest doing in it when you have alot of time, its well written and like all of Moore's book there are stories within the book it self

Its a good read if you have the time.

Watchmen is a Hugo Award Winner (1988) and one of Time Magazine's 100 Best Novels from 1923 to the present.

Hugo Award

Time Magazine's 100 Best Novels

Every single one of you need to read this before the movie comes out. It was meant to be seen in this form first. It is the best comic book ever and one of my favorite pieces of literature. Truly epic.

Not a huge fan of DC at all, but I'm definately going to pick up the compilation, the premise sounds intriguing.

The Watchmen is in no way a DC UNIVERSE comic. Think of DC as the distributer and not the “world” it lives in. This series was a pivotal moment in what comics could be and have become. It made people not already receptive to the medium stand up and take notice. The dialog and graphic artwork are groundbreaking from cover to cover. The story is compelling, dynamic, and intellectual.

Making this all work on screen will be an amazing feat. The story boards and dialog are there just waiting…but the execution will be the key to this being a good or bad representation. I have faith after what he did with the 300 so my excitement level is high.

Well, the teaser for this will be played before The Dark Knight next month, so that's something else to look forward to.

Also if you go here you can watch some commercials that will be played in the background of the movie itself (from a Watchmen contest).

Moe is right on this. Everyone should have time to read. I think it's sad that a great deal of our society doesn't read books.

Patrick Wilson Says ‘Watchmen’ Ending Remains The Same

MTV:

despite any rumors circulating, they’re not changing the ending of “Watchmen” so much that fans won’t recognize it, by giving it say, a happy ending where Rorschach saves the day. “Ha!” Wilson laughed. “I have to say, if you know how much Zack believes in it, you wouldn’t believe he would go that far from the graphic novel. I don’t know how those rumors start, but that’d be a stretch!”
