Alright i need to upgrade either my front two or rear two speakers. I have the polk rm6750 and it was good for a while but i think its a bit to weak. Now i got a $100 bonus so i found these two polk bookshelf speakers. I want to know if i should upgrade front first or rear? does it matter? and also will i notice a big difference with these over the polk rm6750?
or Bestbuy has these for $99.99 (pair) http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1207956903491 or these at Circuit City for 99.99 (pair) http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Polk-...oductDetail.do Thanks. I really do not know much about audio ![]() Last edited by PanasonicPlasmaMan; 10-18-2008 at 05:49 PM. |

The Most Important speakers are your front three. If you feel the need to upgrade--those should be top priority. I'm not too sure if there will be a SIGNIFICANT difference if you get the speakers you posted. I'm sure most people on this forum would agree: If you plan on upgrading, make it worth your while and save up more $$$$. Try to get the best possible that your budget will allow, then you wont feel the need to upgrade a week later.

I agree with Marcos. Not sure it'd be a significant upgrade. The Polk Monitor 50/60/70's are all going for pretty good prices online and on ebay right now (complete with warranties) so you may want to look into them. CC and BB both have them available for a listen, so they should be easy to find for you. They'd match the CS1 or CS2 centers.
Outside of that, there are lots of other options. What's your budget? If it's just $100... save it for now. I was in the same situation as you and you can see in my sig what I ended up with. I'm very happy with it and plan to continue with the surrounds and sub in the future, but they are very satisfactory. |

look my friend, i think it would be best if you saved your money and buy some klipsch rf-62's or 82's! you dont need to audition them because i did not, and i have them! trust me, it will be slow, but in the end you'll have a kick-ass system! Ooops, i hope i don't get a infraction!

hey man, i'm kind of in the situation that you're in, but i don't have a system yet, i'm just buying my first fronts and i was recommended to buy the Polk R50's, they're only $120/pair at fry's. and they're supposed to be pretty kickass, especially for the money

Reason I was suggesting Polks is because you already have the RM6750's, so I figured you were familiar with the sound. It'd be a good match for your existing system as you swap in pieces. However, there's no reason to stick with the speakers if you don't like their sound or want to look at something else. Whatever you do though is going to need to be budgeted for more than $100 if you want a significant increase in sound.

I sell klipsch at my work, make good money on it too, but I still would never blindly tell someone to buy it without auditioning them |

I couldn't be any more happier! hope you love yours, enjoy! ![]() Last edited by TENSE; 10-19-2008 at 05:41 PM. |

Sometimes you have to go by reviews. The only place to audition speakers where I live is the Circuit City listening room. You are of course limited to hearing what they have, and they somehow have and uncanny ability to make any and every speaker sound like absolute garbage anyway.

I think you still need to audition speakers before buying them.
Buying blind is like going online to reseach a new vehicle and everyone saying that the 1978 school bus is the cat's meow and that you should buy it. Then when you get it you realize that it was not all that it seemed to be based on other people saying they like/dislike it. It also doesn't fit in your garage. I don't even buy clothes online unless I am able to try them on in a store first. Do I really want to buy something and then return it because it doesn't fit. As far as what you should upgrade, I would say that you need to save your money and do a full front stage upgrade. You will want you front left, right, and center to be timbre matched. This will give you the best results sonically. Last edited by Hammie; 10-21-2008 at 06:51 PM. Reason: Added thought |

i too want to soon upgrade my two front speakers, now have polk sda-1c front speakers, 20+ yrs old, still sound great, but all my surround speakers are new polks as is my center speaker all less than 6 months old. stick with polks or try klipsch. budget about $1200.oo the newer speakers i have seem to have more presence. maybe my sda's are just getting old.
